What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Got around to checking what was in the battery box on my recently acquired M934. There were 4 brand new looking 6ML(?) batteries, all labeled "Shipped December 2013", so I guess they'd be considered "fresh", especially since the date code punch outs weren't nicked to indicate when they were...

Going To Title & Get Bumper Numbers For My M934 Tomorrow...

Finally got the SF-97 for my M934 from GovPlanet, so I'm headed down 1st thing in the AM to the Waco/McLennan County Tax Fascists and get it titled in my name and registered as a Former Military Vehicle with the bumper registration numbers instead of the Military Vehicle Specialty License...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

After temporarily repairing the power steering hose leak until the new hose arrives at my local NAPA, I got out the grease gun and took care of the "easy fittings. If I can ever remember to take the creeper, I'll finish up that job. My '86 M934 had its MWO done in 2006 and has acquired all of...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I agree with you, find something that works and stick with it, which for me is TriFlow, although I use BreakFree on my firearms. PB Blaster also seems to be popular and I'm going to give that a try next time I run out of TriFlow, as it's gotten really pricey. All I know is that 20 some odd years...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

What I had to do on both my '66 Deuce and the M934 was 1st to scratch away numerous layers of paint, spray the screws and around the handle housing several times with TriFlow, make sure that I had the right size Phillips head screwdriver and then forcefully tap the screws with the screwdriver...

Power Steering Hose Sprang A Leak...

Nope, haven't fixed the hose yet. It's the one on the low/no pressure side and it looks like when it broke they replaced it with some kind of braided soft rubber hose and a couple of automotive clamps. Any recommendations on the hose? I also just looked at a lube order and it said to use OE/HDO...

    M939 Wiper Arms & Blades...

I find the replacement civy wiper blades for the M939/A0 A1 series but not the arm itself. Will the Anco/Trico replacement arm for the Deuce work on the 5 ton or is it a different item unto itself? Thanks... Mark

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

It was getting dark when the Beast arrived, but after talking to airbornebandsman and giving it a brief inspection via flashlight, and for the little I know about the creature, it looks pretty **** good. I guess it should, with less than 900 miles on the clock since a 1996 depot rebuild. Not a...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

GREAT pix! My M934 was just delivered a couple of hours ago from Ft. Sam/San Antonio by airbornebandsman. What a guy, he even had his better half following in the hybrid pace car (on the Day of the Mothers no less) and had one of his kidlets riding shotgun way up high with him. Between airborne...

I've got the Baldwin spin-on oil filter adapter with a Fleetguard filter and the Those Military Guys air filter modification "cage" with a 546664 filter, now I need a suggestion for the fuel filter setup. I've read several of the threads that talk about using a Baldwin spin-on fuel filter...

    M109/M185 Shop Box Window Replacement...

Has anyone come up with an alternative replacement window for the PITA standard issued shop box windows on the M109/M185? I'm tired of screwing around with mine, especially the sticking blackout covers, etc., etc. etc. I've gone to several RV window sites and have found what look to be some...

    NHC 250 Oil Pressure

In looking at the AM General M939 series trucks on GP, it seems that every one of them seems to run a different oil pressure, anywhere from 35-95 PSI., low or high miles/hours notwithstanding. Is there a "normal" oil pressure for the AMG M939 series or do they really vary that much?. All I can...

    AM General Engine Questions...

Did the M939 series AM General 5-ton trucks, specifically the M934, all come with the same engine? I've heard that they were either the HC 250(?) or a Cummins '8.2 liter'. Anybody have the definitive answer? Mark

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Airbornebandsman recovered my newly acquired GP M934 from Ft. Sam early this week and I'm still trying to figure out just what in the H*ll I'm going to do with it. A d*mn big food truck, go anywhere job site trailer, 6x6 rolling billboard, on-site deer processor, on-call roadblock. Any other...
