Are you sure its not just burnt trans fluid. Does it smell like engine oil.

If the brakes were dragging badly you could have boiled the fluid out of the wheel cylinders in the rear. If your fluid level is full then there are no leaks. I would take the rear drums off and check to see if everyhting is assembled correctly. Then try bleeding the brakes

Hello from southern Ohio. You can buy fusable link wire at most auto parts stores

I have replaced many pumps in 6.2s they are not bad to do at all. They look worse than they are.

They do fine on their sides. Just make sure you secure it to the wall or whatever its against.
