I know with the local depts around here, the issue was trying to get all of the 'issued" weapons back into the armory (from officer's vehicles) for the inspection. Giant PITA....I guess.

I think the M4 HST shares the same tracks, Road wheels and drive sprockets as the M4 Sherman tank. Think ther was four different types of tracks used on the M4 (steel chevron, steel bar clete, rubber chevron and plain rubber block)...
With all the upgrades you've been doing, I'm kind of surprised that you went with the "old" three lever light switch and not the electronic one seen in M35A3s...

From what I'm to understand (think I read about it on here ) Some of those duck tour companies are actually building their vehicles from scratch as the supply of parts and restorable hulls has dwindled so. The base vehicle being used is an M35A2.
In the 1950s the Army...
Yeah that's something we as collectors all these years after the fact don't seem to take into account. When these trucks were surplused and that "conversion" work carried out, they were all over the place & no one really wanted them. Heck, even up into the 1960s or even 1970s no one really...
An observation about the T55. Although big & heavy when compared to a ferret, they aren't so big & heavy when compared to their western counterparts (M60/Cheiftan/ Abrams)...... Didn't one of the end user nations make a set of rubber block tracks for the T55...
55? A fellow I knew stationed over there back in the 80's talked about having them upwards of 75mph on the autobahn . I don't like having mine north of 50mph.....
Anyway, welcome to the "club" and as one mutt owner used to say, "once you drive an M151, you'll throw...
I like the "halfway" pic the best. There's just something so cool about an M35 w/o canvas & it's windshield folded :driver: . It's a look that you don't see all to often.

I see by your "offer" that it has a good Mn title but could you shed some more light on the following,
What type? M151, M151A1 or M151A2 for examples. Has your mutt even been demilled? How's the body? Any rust issues...
Went back and had a close up look at those BTR-60 photos you posted. I can see the small TV monitors mounted where the vison blocks used to be. I would have thought that you could fit more passenger seats into that vehicle given it's size. What is the turret used for considering it's original...
I don't think you'd get as good a sence of what is happening around you* from within the vehicle as you would "head out" regardless of the rather generous view ports on those BTRs. I know your vision to the sides (especially the right side) would be poor at best even with mirrors. I do...

That is interesting. I've seen a similar conversion using a BRDM as the base vehicle. You would probably know the answer to this: Can the driver of a BTR-60 or BTR-70 drive the vehicle with his head out like a tank driver can...
I understand but remember; no one plans on getting into an accident. That's why they're called accidents. With that being said, I'm sure you'll have loads of fun with you (potential) new toy and will discover as I did just how much fun these "little" jeeps are...
When I'd get my M151A2s inspected, I'd have to show the mechanics how to start the vehicle and how the light switch works :).
From what they've told me, they inspect the vehicle for what it should have had on it from the factory for that model year. My original M151A2...
