I think bad new thermostat. did you check the temp of the water in the radiator?if the stat is staying closed until 205 the fan will keep running and it will maintain 205.

I leave my cable in the position you have it in now. Then I let the chain hang down and I hook the other end to the back of the cross plate on top of the winch. seems to work fine and the chain does not rub on any paint. It has never fallen off.

that never happens on the internet. take some blocks and put them under the frame so if the tailgate fails the van will be held up by the blocks. In fact, jack up the rear and support the whole back end on the blocks. I think when you hit bumps and it adds extra weight to the gate it will fail...

un bolt the injector lines then the head. anything I need to watch for ? just r&R it?

you will probably have to cut out the floor cross member that the shifters are on to get the top plate out
