M35A3- Changed transmission fluid now won't move?

Sorry, it's been several years since I removed the pan and my memory isn't what it used to be. I don't remember any particular problem with the removal, but if you are having problems, I probably did as well. I doubt if there is any permanent damage to your transmission since you haven't...

M35A3- Changed transmission fluid now won't move?

TranSynd is a very good transmission fluid, but only has one advantage over Dexron 3, according to Allison. You can go further between fluid changes with TranSynd than with Dexron 3. Dexron 3 is the recommended fluid for the 1545 transmission with TranSynd also acceptable. Motor oil works...

M35A3- Changed transmission fluid now won't move?

I suspect you are correct about the pickup. Nothing you did changing the fluid should have caused this. I would drain and pull the pan and hopefully find the pickup was the problem. Did you drain the torque converter? If not, you are mixing the expensive TranSynd with whatever unknown fluid...

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

Well, the mice finally got to my FLU419. I hadn't seen any mouse damage to my wiring previously. However, I went to use the SEE after about 2 weeks sitting and found that the alternator wasn't charging, but everything else worked so I went ahead and used it for one day, planning on...

    GL 4 Gear Oil Requirement

Most of my MVs have been manual transmission, and you don't want to use GL-5 with yellow metal. It is much easier to stick with GL-4 on everything I have, and it is readily available. All you need is GL-4 spec compatible. Actually, the API has discontinued the spec for GL-4, but there are...

    GL 4 Gear Oil Requirement

I use GL-4 in the axles of all of my MVs. I use NAPA brand, which I understand is Valvoline for a lot less money.

mep-002a won't crank. starter bad? solenoid?

Have you tried shorting across the contacts on the end of the solenoid? This would prove 24VDC directly to the starter.

    My first m35a1!..i think?

Should make a nice truck. What information did the previous owner provide when you bought it? Can he provide any history, such as the owner he bought it from?

    Ctis on a m35a3

The photo doesn't show a lot due to lack of good access. However, both ground wires connect under the one screw.

    Ctis on a m35a3

You are correct. Facing the rear of the mobilizer control, on the upper right is a screw that has both ground wires attached. One ground wire goes into the wiring harness and on to somewhere else. The second ground wire, the short ~6 inch ground wire, exits out the left side of the mounting...

    Ctis on a m35a3

The hazard light switch is the turn signal switch, there is nothing to pull out. You simply move the arm up past the right turn position and the hazard lights come on. The cab hazard light is the same light as the light on the turn signal switch. It is very common that this light doesn't work...

    FLU419 Transmission/Transfer case odd question

Have you looked in TM 5-2420-224-24P to see what kind of bolt goes in that top hole?

    Ctis on a m35a3

It's good that you at least now have all six wheels airing up to the same level. You are making progress, so don't get discouraged. Are you certain that you don't have an air leak in the system somewhere such that the compressor can't keep up with the leak and the controller is trying...

    Ctis on a m35a3

One other thing to remember is that these trucks range from 25 - 30 years old and most have had minimal or no PM on the CTIS system either during active military use or subsequently. In addition, the M35A3 trucks were the first deuces to have CTIS so mechanics and drivers had no practical...

    Ctis on a m35a3

I think CM Automotive Systems is now out of business. It's too bad, because I've talked to them on the phone in the past and they were very helpful. They even sent me a brand new wheel valve at no cost when I told them it was for my ex-military M35A3. Try cleaning the wheel valve first and...

    Ctis on a m35a3

As HDN says, start with the TM. The CTIS on the A3 is a very simple system. Since 5 of the tires are at the same pressure, to me it sounds like you need to remove and clean the wheel valve on the 6th wheel. They are very simple to open up and clean.

The official 2023 Southeast Military Vehicle Rally information thread (the event formerly known as the Georgia Rally).

Thanks for everything you do Clint! I finally made it back home at about 1700. Pulling that XM1061Eq trailer with my M35A3 and an M151A2 on the trailer is a bit much. Some hills I was actually down to 10 MPH. Twice I had to go to low range. But, it did work out. I had a very good time, as...

    M35a3 tire removal from rim

Where did you find the tires? Did they have new date codes? I understood that Michelin quit making those years ago.
