It looks like you are well on your way to enjoying this truck. I know itis always more difficult in Europe to get the old American iron but that monster there has the possibility of a real fine item.
For the M52 (M39 series), fifth forward speed is direct drive on the 6352 transmission (gasoline models) and an overdrive gear on the 6453 transmission (diesel models).
For the M818, all are the 6453.
Reverse - 7.33 to 1.00
6352:
7.31 to 1.00
4.08 to 1.00
2.41 to 1.00
1.43 to 1.00
1.00 to...
I had a conversation with them in person and bought a couple of windshields. This was two years ago. They can and do sell to individuals, but since they are mainly set up for large orders with companies the size of Memphis, and do not have a parts counter or a counter man, they usually do not...
I've got plans for one of these at least. They are cast resin of some kind. I was handed a bag with them in it as a gag. Not what I always wanted, but with some grinding to remove the excess at the base, ought to make a nice shift knob. These are decent size about 3.5" tall. I figure 0.5"...
800 series - I couldn't find 10W today so I used a little straight 20W to top it off as the glass was empty. Hopefully that isn't a mistake. Since the truck has to warm up, that ought to give the oil time to warm up as well. The sight glass there shows hot and cold. The reservoir is smaller than...
What is the frame width on the M939?
If the frame width on the 900 series is the same as the 800 series (34"), then this seems like a fairly easy swap, aside from the weight of the case. I'm still reading up on the several controls the 939 case has, looks like it's electical as well as...
The search function - what a wealth of data. The M35 driveshafts are on the passenger side. M818 5T's shafts are on the driver side.
Here is a pic of what it looks like when the tranfer and axle are not like-sided.

I sent Jones a PM to ask about this and have been reading the Baby HEMTT topics.
I dug these views out of the TMs, and found a pic. of a 939 xfer, but it's not a good one. The pics in the TMs might be misleading so I am glad you brought this up..
The Baby HEMTT has "...Deuce frame and...
Hey Brian.. That whole thing was fun. You mean you would, or wouldn't bob a 5T?
I don't see an advantage over a deuce for a bobber since the cargo space is rendered so small, but.. maybe there is.
If you can't find the right speedo adapter, most speedometer shops can help to retrofit the existing one with the correct gears. At least it's an even number to do mentally.
I think I am going to look closely at the M939 transfer case idea. haha please tell me it's a bolt-up!
Anyone got...
I admit right off that the 16.00's were too heavy for me to handle alone.
The plan with the 16.00's was to install an I-beam across the back of the inside of the M109 box up near the ceiling and put a 4-sheave roller block (or a 1 ton ATV winch) on it, so I could get the 1600 up off the ground...
M813A1, Tires are always worth considering, but seeing as the huge ones I didn't like only gave me 63MPH at redline, I'm going to try something else if possible. Want to stay off that redline.
Could I be wrong, in considering redlines of the NHC-250 in the same category as redlines in the...
It is truthfully 70 during the day and 65 at night in many places.
On the posibility of an engine swap, those are some interesting engines. A moving truck I rented had a DT466 in it and that one turned 2500RPM IIRC.
BTW - of all the major refurb-dealers, who is closest to Dallas? Is it...
About the mass and the speed, others might consider hauling heavy stuff fast, but in my case the goal is a 12% increase from 53 to 60.
The headroom is there for the engine, but I'm informed that engine does better at 2000 than wnat I was thinking 1800.
The load weight is not 10 or even 5...
When we took driver training on the 900 series 5T we were warned that if the brakes are mashed with no load, the back end of the truck is going to come around and it might flip. We were shown what to look for to see if the air brakes on the truck had ABS and drive accordingly/safely.
A different truck would be interesting but there are steeper cost issues associated with that route when comparing apples to apples. The cost for the same thing is quite a bit more than for a military truck. Each time I have seen a heavy duty (at least 2 tons highway rated) all wheel drive...
