There was a little "slop", about 1/8th inch in the yaw axis (side to side) at the top of my fabricated hitch... And yes, they worked. They weren't there to prevent the hitch from SLIDING out, just to control a very slight rocking back and forth action, bascially noticeable when there wasn't a...
When I got the tank on and stood back and looked at it, I thought "time to get the spray gun out and shoot the tank O.D."
I hated taking a cutting torch to the M332, and each time I wacked off some unwanted metal I kept thinking "This poor trailer was probably up the road from me when I was...
I have 14 trailers I've purchased through GL... And yes, the M332 is one heavy son of a gun.
I butchered one in order to haul my 600 gallon fuel pod. I probably easily shaved 500 pounds or more from it.
On my trip home (400 miles) with two of these piggy-backed, I kept it at 45 miles per hour...
Welcome from nearly "far north Texas..."
I hope your military surplus doesn't rust-up too badly down there.. The drought has helped keep my stuff from rusting, but it's kind or hard on the livestock.
Yes, brainy people here on Steel Soldiers. A wealth of information... Just watch out for the...
I recently bought two of theses trailers, piggy-backed them together via the pintle hooks and towed them 400 miles across Texas... The only "event" was when a deer ran out in front of me on a backroad at night... that was kind of thrilling, but my 1/2 ton Silverado handled the trailers nicely...
Here is a progress report on my M332 project. I fabricated "The Mother Of All Hitches" so my M332 would be level behind my pickup when I towed them home. My hitch has adjustments to go 4 inches higher to accommodate my M105. I can add a lower receiver and pintle hitch for my M103 and M101...
I looked at this chart and it reminded me when I was a kid going into Baskin Robbins and feeling a little overwhelmed by all the flavors... Now that I am an old man, I'm feeling like I need to give an electrician a wad of money and say "looky..."
Thanks for the lead.
Peter:
Thanks a million.
I'm one of those "visual" people and this chart shows a lot of plugs that look similar to the one on my RV.
Someone needs to write a book someday called "Everything You Wanted To Know About NEMA, But Afraid To Ask..."
About 20 years ago, when I decided to build an airplane in my backyard... All the jargon threw me (much in the way NEMA goes over my head.) I started reading my manuals and found out I needed Clecos... I thought to myself, "Hey, I've always liked the Marx Brothers, Harpo, Groucho, and Cleco...
Hey, I guess I was wrong... I just saw mkcoen post, who installed a fuel pod in an M105... (here on this thread)...
It still makes me uncomfortable having the fuel ride so high. But if you are basically using the M105 for wheeling around on private property, it probably isn't a problem. Me, I...
I must have slipped with my tape measure when I was checking the width & height at the wheel well area. I thought there would be some metal rubbing, but your photo proves me wrong...
I think for my needs, I'll feel more comfortable putting my fuel pod in my M332 with it's lower center of...
Am I seeing your photo correctly? Dual wheels?
Maybe your trailer will work, it looks a lot "beefier" than my M105, but I suspect the insides between the wheel wells is even more restricted than my M105?
They won't fit very well inside an M105 as I measured the wheel wells in my M105. I was going to do the same thing with my 600 gallon aluminum fuel pod, put it in my M105. I changed my mind and am going with the M332. As you can see in my side-by-side photo, the M332 has a lower center of...
I used to have an Aunt Nema...
But I suspect I should load up one of my gen-sets and my RV cable and go see an electrician. I'm beginning to think I'm "dangerous" and Nema might not be happy.
Ask me anything about scooping donkey poop or goat dung, and I'm an expert in that arena...
(Come to...
I was going to "de-furb" the bed by wrenching it but the nuts were probably installed in 1965 and this old man gave up and took the cutting torch to the bed... A few more cuts in the morning and I'll be very close to getting my tank installed and then the 12 volt pump...
As far as the EUC, I...
When I filled out my EUC form, I bet the people in Battle Creek read it and said a hardy "Yea, right. This old guy is going to rebuild these heavy trailers into a "scooter hauler"? Give me a break..."
Well, I once did build a real airplane in my backyard, licensed it and flew it... so I'm...
I had to laugh...
In some parts of Texas, I see "young whippersnappers" spending more money on chrome wheels and those odd looking flat/skinny thin tires than the car is worth...
My M332s I paid about $250 for... and after I "modify" them, I will remain faithful to keeping them O.D.
"Forgive me Father (I mean Uncle Sam) for I have sinned"
I am about to plunder, pillage and ravage my most recent acquisition... my really cool looking M332 trailer...
I originally bought an M105 to use for hauling an aluminum 600 gallon fuel tank I plan to use on my farms for hauling and...
I appreciate the info and help... The generator was easy to start. I changed the filters, put new oil in (having the diesel ratings) installed new batteries. It shook, and rattled and coughed for about 20 seconds and came to life, as if it were Frankenstein. I didn't want to run it long without...
