Take a look at the carrier bearing that supports the front drive shaft, they make a clanging /rattle noise that comes and goes w/ bumps.(when then bearing is loose/wearing).

Looks to be a 1970. The VIN number posted is a composite of the original Army registration number (05B21570) and the vehicle serial number(C12410694), (the serial number should be stamped on the frame rail at or behind the front left tire.)
It's powered by the NHC 250, check all the fluids...
If time permits and $$ resource are available, I'd pull the 6 injectors and have the cleaned , tested and set. Take your time

First, do you have the operators manual? A must to properly operate these vehicles. The "kill" switch is actual the emergency fuel shut off "t" handle on the dash, it is pure mechanical. Check that it is reseting at the injector pump, follow the cable.
