If it runs good and strong in first and won't shift to second it is probably a broken governor spring in the transmission. You can remove the governor by going to the rear left of the trans and locating the governor cover. It is a square cover the size of a beer can with 4 bolts at each corner...
I've towed other 5 tons, M35s, and even M915s with the wrecker for very long distances. It works great! Just want to keep top speed while towing around 50 MPH. No faster or things could go to dog door in a hurry.
I had the solenoid go out. I thought it was the valves so I cleaned them and replaced the o-rings. But the solenoid for the control vavle went out. I did an ohms test an it was open. I switched it with the deflate solenoid and I could inflate but not deflate. I purchased a solenoid pressure...
If you have a solid over speed light on the dash it means you have cycled the ignition 50 times with no speed sensor reading. Start the truck and drive it for a short distance. The light will go out when it detects speed.
I am looking into rebuilding the PCU for my CTIS M936A2 wrecker. If this works I will be able to rebuild others if needed. I will keep you guys updated.
