Is there any benefit to bringing up the actuarial risk (real vs. perceived) of driving our vehicles on WI roads? For a 5 ton vehicle, driven less than 7000 miles per year in WI......comprehensive and liability insurance was under $350/six months with a $2k deductible. Relate that to any...
Darn good question.
I just looked at the wiring schematic for the 800 series......showing "22" for brakes and 460/461 for turn lights.
Single pole would be my best quess looking at the diagram.
I just earned the class B CDL for Illinois this morning......and they did not offer a "non-commercial" class B. You'll need to chose one of the four "types".....and for me , the non-medical, interstate was the most applicable (occasional use)...type II. The others limit your use to...
Welcome....I'm a month in myself and already looking at the GL site for what awaits in Sparta.
(Farm in Elkhorn, M817)
p.s. Tell your wife you could of bought a Porsche....1 car.....or a fleet of FMV's (they all like the "I bought 4 purses for the price of one" ......at $500 a pop)
As an IL resident, property owner in Walworth County.....I hope WI does the right thing. I have yet to register my vehicle (bought 2 weeks ago) as a result of this. I'll gladly pay the sales tax/register in WI (where the truck is kept) if a positive outcome develops.
Thanks to those before...
Haha.....my wife thinks I'm going through a mid life......but c'mon.....what guy doesn't point and go "****, that is cool!". I'm so new to this, I can't even think about adding more, but from past experience ....all of our hobbies look better in pairs:
1967 Chevy II Wagon- 580 Dart Big Block...
Thank you Gents. I'll leave it alone. Cummins.....got it (I worked in Peoria in my late teens......CAT I know how to pronounce......Cummins, getting familiar with).
As a brand new owner of the M817, I've noticed the oil pressure at 60PSI at Idle and 90 at about 1500 RPM on the Cummings NHC-250.
The oil guage reads 0-120. Is it possible the wrong sending unit was installed (0-60) vs. the 0-120....? Is there another problem that would cause the idle psi...
I actually read your entire post before buying and came to the conclusion I need to buy "fully refurbished" for my "1st one". I'm sure I'm like alot in here (type A, always got a project going, never enough time).....and what your doing is amazing!! If I had the time and patience (i.e. sit...
**** is this truck cool!! We'll use it for many utilitarian needs, but having considered a Kodiak or an L8000, is there any other way to go?
I have a gazillian questions after reading the manual, but a few things I have no idea on:
1. The oil and air pressure gauge are exactly the...
As an excited new guy (who's been looking to own a HMV ...what guy isn't?)...I took the DMV's written class B CDL this morning without issue. I asked if there was a "Non-commercial" component and none was found on the application. I went with the type II (Interstate) under the...
Outstanding!!! This is unbelievably timely....as I'm considering buying an M817 for a farm I own in Wisconsin, though I'm an Illinois resident. I read through what Wisconsin HMV owners are dealing with and can only hope they change the laws for current and future owners.
If I'm able to find...
Thank you gentlemen. I spent a bit of time looking for a way around the WI "if I can't own a deuce and a half, nor can you" law.......and my IL residency might allow for me to drive up there (with IL plates). Not sure yet, but still looking.
Hello
Brand new to the forums/website.....glad I landed here (lots of info/knowledge).
I own a farm and want to add another "toy" to the collection, though a little more utilitarian vs. "speed and smoke".
I've been looking for a dump truck and saw an m817 at auction on one of the government...
