Short answer is . . . check with the D M V where you plan to register it. I also forgot to say welcome in your other thread so, WELCOME from Central PA.
Suggestion, but you won't like it. Make a plate and gasket to sit on the reservoir fill opening and pump a vacuum on it. Have someone turn the steering wheel lock to lock with the engine OFF. Much easier with the front wheels off the ground, obviously. Had to do this to many rack n pinion...
I understand, it can be difficult to find exactly what you are looking for. No malice involved, just don't want the moderators to get on ya. Hope my answer about pressures helps.
Ever hear "your actual mileage may vary" ? Forget "may". No two vehicles will ever get the same mileage. It's...
Erasedhammer, Do you ever search before starting a new thread ?
For ANY vehicle ; find the correct air pressure by drawing a line across the tread from edge to edge with a tire crayon or chalk. Drive straight ahead a few tire rotations ( do not steer left or right ). Look at the line...
Superdave : A barn find without even having a barn, Priceless ! But then so is that fine piece of history. It's truly gorgeous, Congratulations.
All terrific nominations this month. :clinto:
Just to confirm what I read, you are going to use household caulk on a wheel assembly for a vehicle that will be driven on public roads ? aua
1 - I really, really hope you reconsider and track down the proper o-rings. That is what was engineered to be there for a reason.
If not then:
2 -...
Jesusgatos, no need to search just click on the link in porkysplace's post. Sounds like the lock-up switch or circuit to me. If torque converter is locked it'll shut off almost instantly ( like a manual trans vehicle with the clutch stuck ). If it chugs a few seconds before shut-off it might...
WELCOME and hope you have a great time with your "new" machine.
Give a man a fish, he eats today. Teach a man to fix his HMMWV and he can go fishing wherever the heck he wants. Happy Motoring !
Great idea chasing the threads as far down as you can first. Definitely an old school trick ( why fight rust the whole way off ? ). Half inch drive tools won't cut it, as you found out, and three quarter tools MIGHT get it if the tools are first quality and you have a nice long, strong piece...
Thank you Rustystud. I don't even have my "big girl" yet but thanks to this thread another project has been added to the punch list. Your Craftsmanship appears to be Outstanding and I NEVER use either of those words lightly. Very few are willing to take the time to "do it right" anymore. I...
Ah, sorry. But still, in my opinion, unnecessary. The forces on the frame won't change. Torque is torque. All good, just use the best parts and fasteners.
It's your money but there is no need for a high steer kit with only four inches of front lift. A drop pitman arm will put your drag link back to stock angle ( flat ). If you are worried about cracking the frame at the steering box, add the reinforcement kit ( shoulda been standard on all GM...
2cents For those that have it available, veggie based bio-diesel is the best possible for ANY oil burner. It lubricates better than even sulfur in the old petro-diesel. Even clean WVO is acceptable. The esters are like teflon to the pump and injectors. The ONLY downside ? It cleans...
Welcome from Central PA. Glad to see a proud soldier back out doin' what she was made for, driving, not sitting in a museum. Best of luck and huge congrats on your score,
