I put two of the Odyssey ODS-AGM6M batteries in my FLU419. Much cheaper than the Hawkers with the same specs and made by the same company as the Hawkers. Basically, they look just like the Hawkers except they are red in color.
Send me your e-mail address in a PM and I'll forward a copy to you. By the way, don't do what I did and mount the ring by yourself. Have Soldier B help. Also, hoist it up so that the ring is easily rotated. Mounting the ring isn't hard with the right equipment and help, but it can be...
I talked directly with an Allison engineer at the factory about my 1545 transmission when I changed to Dexron 3. The guy was adamant about driving the truck and having multiple gear shifts up and down between drains and refills with Dexron 3 and to go through several drain and refill cycles as...
Do you have a copy of the U.S. Marine Corps Technical Instructions (TI03404C-12/1 15AUG1996) for mounting on a 5-ton? This works for a deuce as well and is what I used years ago to mount my M66 on an M35A3. Send me a PM if you would like a copy of this document by CD or e-mail.
You need to talk to people that have an M35A3. A properly functioning Cat 3116 engine in an A3 rarely turns over more than 1 - 2 revolutions before starting except in very cold weather. You have a very simple problem that is common with A3 deuces. There is a check valve located in the...
Check and see if the fans will turn manually. On my FLU, one fan was seized up while the other was fine. I found an NOS fan motor on Ebay fairly cheap, but haven't installed it yet. I tested my fans by blowing a heat gun over the sensor. My fans never come on while using the backhoe, even in...
When I changed the motor oil to Dexron 3 in my M35A3, I drove the truck for several miles between flushes, making the transmission shift up and down repeatedly, to make sure I got all of the motor oil out. Allison Technical Support recommended that I do the driving when switching fluids.
There are a lot of guys with equipment trailers moving backhoes, tractors, dozers, etc. I simply stopped a guy hauling some equipment on a trailer behind a dump truck and asked if he would rent me his trailer for a day. He had a spare that he rented for $100.00. The next time I needed one, I...
Why not rent an equipment trailer that has a lunette and load the car on the trailer? I've done this in the past with my M35A2 and M35A3. I replaced the bulbs in the trailer with 24 volt bulbs and made a jury-rigged connection from the trailer wiring to the deuce. You can also buy adapters to...
That looks like a good product since magnetic mounts won't work. I've only started my MEP003A once when the temp was right at 0 F. It had no problems starting without any kind of heater, but it is protected in a garage and NOCO battery minders are on the batteries.
As I mentioned above, I have pulled my water buffalo with my FLU419 several times. As Mullaney mentioned, it is MUCH safer to pull the water buffalo with the tank full, or if not, empty. A partially filled 400-gal tank with water sloshing around really gets squirrely, especially on uneven...
I've pulled my M149A2 water buffalo trailer behind my FLU419 on several occasions, offroad and Very Slow. The FLU has minimal power when the tank is full and the trailer tends to push the FLU. Not recommended.
I'm not sure the problem is with the government. I had EUCs and SF97s repeatedly issued in a reasonable time frame when Government Liquidation had the contract. I'm thinking the problem may be with GP, not the gov.
I used United States of Freight to move my FLU419 from Philadelphia to North Georgia. They did an excellent job at the lowest cost quote and actually showed up early.
NOCO chargers are great. I now have 6 NOCO chargers, 5 that will charge 24 VDC and one that charges two 12 VDC at the same time. They make very good chargers.
No, $125 or $150 in Atlanta. But again, that was a few years back. He had two available at that time and I picked the one that had a tag that said it was rebuilt by Wolverhampton in the UK. Both had come out of running trucks that were being parted out.
On my FLU, I have to depress the clutch to get the intermediate speed control to shift. The -10 manual states the following:
Intermediate Speed Control (2). Intermediate speeds are main transmission reduction speeds and can be
engaged and disengaged while driving either forward or reverse...
My crossover air line was corroded solid. I replaced it with a 10mm 316 stainless steel line. It is very easy to replace, but has some complicated bends in it. I had to purchase a Ridgid 10mm tubing bender made for SS. My unloader /regulator was also toast so I replaced it with a new one I...
The easiest solution is to find a good take-out transmission from a truck being parted out. I can't remember, but I believe I paid either $125.00 or $150.00 for a good transmission. However, that was a few years ago and there aren't as many available now. The transmission is actually not that...
