I have red top optimas in one of my trucks.

Go for it. It would work great and be cost effective and you wont get stuck in remote areas. There are usually numerous deuces on GL in Alabama, Georgia and SC that you could bid on.

I use a heavy set of jack stands and a 12 ton bottle jack for working on wheels and tires.

Does anyone know a resonably priced source of parking brake / emergency brake shoes / pads for the M35a2? I know some of the surplus places sell them but they seem expensive. Are they available through any of the auto parts stores?

The trucks are so much fun for reasons mentioned in previous posts. You will enjoy it. $6000 for an average condition deuce however seems a bit high. Look through some of the classifieds on this site and see if a member has one for sale that interests you.

Call Erick's and see what he can do on the shipping?. I ordered my wire conectors and a few things including a 24v tag light and he put them in a $5 priority mail package and got it from the west coast to Georgia in two days. I was happy with the product, shiping and price.
