I understand that a valve near the bottom of the tank would be beneficial but not necessary due to the fuel/water separator in the unit. By the way - your ultimate well nut repair is awesome...

Plumber Joe will be fixing the genset before he leaves the property.....! lol This isn't a gravity system. The fuel will be sucked from the pickup tube which is connected from aux. hose at the top of the barrel. If the line breaks from the ground level or the fitting near the fuel cap it won't...

Any quality diesel fuel system cleaners?

What about PRI-D ?? Does it take care of lubricity and added cetane boost?? For the price it should be majical!! $30 for 16 oz. bottle. 1oz. per 15 gallons. Would I still have to add some 2 stroke oil??

Always more than one way to skin a cat... What would be the issue with leaving fuel in the line? Aren't the fuel lines in the genset full when not in use....?

I think if I disconnect the line from the barrel and activate the aux fuel pump by moving the float down in the tank, I can pump the line dry...

    803a hours

I'm with you Bmxenbrett...I like the lower hour units. Mine only has 236 hours on it but it has been banged around. I had to do some sheet metal straitening and the skids are mangled on one side from forks slamming into them.

Ran the auxiliary fuel line through 1" conduit under the sidewalk into the garage. I like the idea of having the tank inside away from extreme temps and sunlight. Makes the fuel harder to steal also. The conduit from the ground to the connection is 3/4" flexible conduit, should keep the hose...

Decided against the metal drum, it was banged up and I didn't have confidence in it. Went with good old black plastic.

Found an auxiliary fuel tank for $10. It had 0w-20w synthetic oil in it. Has a small dent. Plan is to keep it in the garage and pipe aux. line through conduit out under the sidewalk to the generator. Just did the same with the battery charger wiring. More later.

I saw that Advance Auto had the Optima red tops for $167. The best price I've seen so far...May be two of them in my near future. Amazon has them for $165 - just ordered two with free shipping....
