You have my curiosity up now too. I have not heard of VARSOL for probably 15 years. Might have gone 'green'...I was some of the best stuff to clean parts with.

I don't know of anyone one in the Lafayette area. I don't work at the casino anymore in Lake Charles, so that is out as well.
Worse come to worse, try Bayou Wrecker out of Lake Charles 337.497.0888. They have helped me out numerous times are are reasonable. Uh, cash TALKS! Don't know what it would be from Lafayette to Houston though.
Pretty sure that there is someone in the area that could at least take a look. I would come and look but am out of the area right now. Might give it an hour or two for a reply.

I already had the product sheet downloaded as this is what I have been looking at for my truck. I think it says something around 9? hours...
Edit: I haven't used it, so what Gimpyrobb said for cure time.
You might want to rip out the insides now, or at least look, and find out if all of the metal is good. Finding out now instead of then might help you plan your project better. These series of GM are notorious for rust in the floor pans. 2cents
As far as how long to wait before installation of...
A couple, or maybe 6?, months ago my parts guy (GMC) told me that BOTH brackets had been discontinued and that when the stock was gone there would be no more to be had from GM. The bolts are still in stock and will remain in stock as they are also used in other applications.
