I found that the radius in the piston bowls were full of a soft white carbon type substance.
The Injector hole on cylinder one was almost entirely plugged with this stuff. The fuel could not spray into the cylinder but would have just dripped in.
Its is not in the pictures but the top...
For the last few months I have had what I thought was an injector knock that would come and go. Also had excessive blue smoke at idle along with heavy smoke under load.
I pulled and tested all the injectors and they tested good. So off come the heads. My son gave a helping hand.
My home made...
Installed the lower corner trim on the upper bunk.
Panted the front and rear again. I really need to finish the trim and putty all the screw holes for final paint.

I did not just pull the motor oil stuff out of thin air. Someone posted the Spicer documentation on this site. I have had no luck finding it to link to this thread. After I read that Spicer recommended 30, 40 or 50w engine oil I decided to try it. I went with 40w because it was what...
I have been using 40 w motor oil for over 3 years in a daily driver. I hope going back to gear oil helps you problem but these transmissions were designed to run on engine oil.
2000 miles. I actually pulled the heads to look at my liners. still see hone marks. The advance mechanism in my injector pump ground itself apart. I believe that is where the high iron and aluminum came from.
My lead was at 31 and tin at 8 Blackstone says they should be about 27 and three but they did not flag them as scary high.
Now my iron was at 247 and aluminum at 48 but I did have a injector pump grenade on me.

What kind of door catch are you using? I am having trouble finding a positive latch catch. My beans keep ending up on the floor during transit.
The info on the needle bearings comes from the guy here that makes the taller fifth gear set for these transmissions I can't remember his handle right at the moment. The Motor oil comes from the manufactures own literature. You will find a lot of folks have gone back to 40 or 50w and have seen a...
The extreme pressure additives in gear oil have been known to take out the small needle bearings in these transmissions and also affect the synchro operation. That is why the manufacture specifies motor oil. But the truth is most don't get enough miles on them to matter. I have driven my truck 5...
Only because you asked, I looks dorky. But in a military vehicle looks don't count we are after function. Have you thought about a rack over the cab? I personalty like the bumper extension idea if you could still get into your yard.
I have really enjoyed your build thread, your work is impressive.
I wired the old convoy light switch in so it powers the 12 volt stuff with the master switch off.
And then I carpeted the back with some leftover carpet squares we had.
14It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes...
Because of the height of the truck my water hookup and gravity fill ended up One hundred and twelve feet off the ground.
So I plumbed another in a little lower so I don't have to stand on my tippy toes to hook up the hose.
9Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old...
Getting ready for our annual camping trip. Haven't tested battery's in while. The battery for my Twelve Volt system was low so I charged and tested it.
It failed so it got replaced.
Now to test the charging system. I have found that I need to run Twenty eight volts or my battery's wont...
Your build is coming along very nice.
Having been a cabinet maker in the past I have one suggestion. Reinforce the back of the drawer guides where they attach. They are not very strong and houses don't go over speed bumps.
The best way is to cut some spacers to stand up behind the side of...
