I wouldn't call it a 'custom' hitch, just a simple plate to add some elevation. Good to have around. Trailer supply stores. I just towed a trailer 700 miles with it, and the lunette height is much higher than a 105.

Series 31 heavy duty truck batteries work pretty good too. I've even grabbed a couple of cheap Costco batteries and started up many trucks.

5.4 to 6.7 volts is DEAD DEAD DEAD. Scrap yards will give you more than trade-in core value.

The controller is in the little black box in the photo. I like them. Have them on most of my trucks.

I picked up a used 24v scooter charger (handicapped type scooter) and it works great for a trickle charger. Got it for less than $15 delivered. There are hundreds for sale on ebay.

Civilian trucks come with civilian transmissions. Suggest you avoid the military stuff for your needs.
