The award couldn't have gone to a nicer guy and gal. I had the pleasure of meeting Lamar and Jewel on the convoy, this couple is a great representative of the hobby. Congrats Lamar and Jewel !!!:driver:[thumbzup]
If the award is for who traveled the furthest, wouldn't that go to the LST 325? After all it came from Greece or something under its own power...
Just my 2cents
This award is a great idea. Thanks Chris for making it happen, I hope the exposure adds many more members to SS.
The longest traveled idea is a good one, but is that the only criteria? I would like to see the SS award be more coveted by the members of the MVPA, instead of who simply traveled the farthest. The laptop on fender is a good idea, maybe the piston trouphy and an engraved plaque are in order...
I don't think the best MV conversion into the daily grocery getter is the best criteria for a SS award.
The MVPA is more about preserving the vehicle as it is what it is, on here alot of vehicles get modified and I think everyone agrees not all mods are appealing to everyone all the time...
Yep it works Bjorn, just completed the 109 coolant change, ready to do the M35. Have coolant filters for both as well. I think the coolant filters and the oil filter adapters from John Tennis are a must for any deuce I own.
If you look at a C turbo, it loos like a konk shell, like it would whistle with air going through it. The D turbo has a wider air passage so the air doesn't get forced through a smaller opening and then whistle. Do a search, I think someone may have posted pics at one time. When you start...
The airshift will have a switch w/ light indicator on the dash. If you like the whistle get a C turbo, if you want to retain your hearing get a D turbo.
Its a process, Cranetruck wrote an excellent article on this. Basically drain it out (you'll only get 5 gallons) and refill with distilled water. Warm the engine up to open thermostate and drain again, repeat this process 4 times. On the fifth fill, use 4 gals antifreeze and 1 gal. distilled...
Sporkius, since you have the time, do a good inspection, you'll want a 109 w/ the ladder. Also use the manuals that Doghead posted above. Part of owning a deuce is working on it so I hope you have atleast some mech. ability, there is alot of help here so don't be afraid to ask.
I see you...
I just did the tranny 3 weeks ago, used a jack and that went well. To line her back up, get it close and then turn the output flange by hand, sometimes you can feal the shaft splines as they go past the splines on the clutch. I also but two long bolts in the tranny near the top to help with...
Went with the convoy last Thurs. and Fri. from Schulyer to Kearney NE. Wow!! What a trip, lots of people came out and the MVs are awesome, some really good people driving them too. At times the column was 2 miles long as we picked up a bunch of MVs in Gretna. Met the guy from France who...
