I think you can but, if your clamping onto cut off steel line, that seems not to seal and hold as well as a barbed fitting or compression fittings. Only my opinion though and you know I only want the best for you Lindsay! :D

You could always run plastic lines with compression fittings.

My m44 series tractor pulls my 6 ton m146 trailer with ease! The stock m146 trailer weights 7350 lbs empty, I have added about 1500 lbs to that.
