Ok..after staring at the tm for a couple of hours unless im missing something it looks like the input shaft sliding gear is always splined to the input shaft. The input shaft sliding gear also continuiously engages the pto drive gear.
With the input shaft sliding gear engaged, the input...
Hi everyone. I'm starting this thread to consolidate the information relating to converting our stock tcases to 2 speed units for those who wish to do so.
It looks like i will be able to lay my hands on a spare tcase locally here to do a bench test on.
If anyone has info on this conversion...
Here are the pics of the 57 chev 2 ton (18,500lb GVW) school bus rad. It had a 261 six/np420 and wouldve been dead slow with 8.25-20 civvy baloney skins and rear end gearing at 7.2:1
The core its self looks to be 3" thick..not an exact fit but fairly common to find in the back 40's here and...
Agreed..some braking is always better than none. Glad to hear you made it home with no hassles..i used to do stuff like that. The cops here seemed to just enjoy talking to you and getting the walk around tour of whatever vintage junk you were riding home..now theyve gone and hired out of...
Ok..had a look at section 10 of the manual. If you took one wheel cylinder out of the picture the adjuster would act as a stop. With a correctly adjusted brake i would think you would still be able to make contact with the drum.
The functioning cylinder end of the shoe for sure, but the other...
I made it back to the shop..ill look into getting a spare tcase to mess with this week..if i can ill take as many pictures as i can. From rosco's message it sounds like its the pto drive gear and shaft that the action all happens on. I'm a little worried about sending power through a shrunk fit...
Hi Erik, i realize this thread is a year old but if you havnt solved your drag link build heres how i do it.
Measure the diameter of the taper top and bottom of the stock drag link ends and figure out the angle of the taper..next try and match the tapers (hoefully they are the same) or if...
That lòoks very close to a 57 chev school bus/2ton rad i have in the yard just with a couple extra gizmos on the top tank. Bet it uses the same core. Ill get some pics and measurements when i get back
Something interesting..
Well it took me a while to find it..this isnt the full diagram i was looking for but in past research on splitting the system on my WC62 i remembered seeing a diagram for a dual hydraulic system for a tandem axle application with dual servo (2 wheel cylinders per wheel)...
Hi Rosco..i'm curious about the 2 spd tcase conversion process..what is the process and what ratios do you end up with? Is it reduction in both ranges? I was considering a solenoid controlled air actuator for shifting the sprag..parallel in a relay with the reverse light switch. Spring to hold...
Im sitting in the ferry terminal waiting to go home to Quallicum for Thanksgiving..if no one else has posted up the dimensions for you by the time i get back to the shop ill get out the tape and do the deed.. for an aftermarket setup i would check out speedway motors..ive ordered stuff from them...
There is a service in ontario that will machine your cylinders and press in a brass sleve. Use silicone brake fluid , lube up all your seals with sil-glide or equivalent silicone rubber grease prior assembly and never worry again. Oh and a touch of copper anti sieze on the EXTERNAL threads of...
I found this site and sent him an email regarding our dual range hydra-matics. He replied quickly and said he could supply rebuild kits.
I thought it may be usefull to us as ive read that parts are drying up. When i get mine out i may go through it and pack it up..or pass it on to a member that...
