That is exactly what I'm looking for. But I really need someone who understands compatibility. I know very little about these engines and the variations for the heads.
Machine shop called, valve seats have cracks in them. The guy at the machine shop said repair would be about $600 a head (both have cracks). (This is the 6.5L GEP.). He said he has repaired them in the past, but those vehicles were old and no longer in service. So he can't say how long the...
Absolutely, I'm very happy that it failed while pulling into my driveway. And the local shop was close enough I could drive it there without the engine overheating. I consider myself very lucky for that, as well as lack of (so far) damage found.
Doing it the 'right' way, install the studs then the head I don't think will work. I didn't take it apart, the shop did.. but looking at it I don't think there is enough clearance to pull the heads (with studs) while the engine is still in the vehicle.
Possible you could install the heads...
Looks like some glow plug fragments had fallen in to the engine at some point.. some scratches and divets on the top of a few pistons. No scratches on cylinder walls, rings seem good.
head gasket did have signs of a tear/failure in it. So I think I got lucky. The pre combustion cups on the...
Can't help you with the wheels, but if you want _NEW_ original Goodyear Wrangler MT (not R), any commercial goodyear dealer can now request them. My understanding is they are not directly orderable, but their rep can get them. (I ordered mine through my local Discount Tire. They would NOT...
I've used canon plugs in other industries in the past. The main thing is periodically you need to crack them open, and dielectric grease the contacts inside. (We used to do it in video production van every 9-18 months depending on schedules, etc.). But I've not really worked with ones that...
I contacted FSI for service a while back and the reply was they wouldn't quote a price until I sent it to them, and I had to pay shipping to get it back even if I didn't want them to service due to cost. Needless to say I decided to wait.
I really would like to get a hydraulic or electric...
When replacing the old hose, there needs to be some 'flow' to purge the system of air. Thus it exists, just VERY slow. My take is the valve is good at introducing pressure (and letting it bleed off) but isn't really a substitute for redirecting fluid flow.
Check the voltage to the cadillac valve when power is supplied it should be allowing fluid into the lines. If you have a bleeder on it, you should be able to loosen the bleeder and fluid will come out. If you don't get fluid then the valve is bad. (I had a bad valve on my vehicle when I got...
You will absolutely find 6.5L GEP w/ the 3-speed transmission. The vehicle may have originally come with a 6.2L, but at some point the engine was replaced and more or less all replacement engines were 6.5L GEP.
Basically if it has a 4-speed transmission it's PROBABLY a 6.5L. If it has a...
When I got my vehicle the glow plugs were shot, and the EESS box was "fine". I replaced the glow plugs, then found out actually the box was bad. Replaced the temp sensor on the engine (that connects to the box) and the box.. and now it was starting great all the way down to about 40F. Below...
My HMMWV had "new" 10-14 year old tires, "brand new" surplus, they lasted 18 months on the HMMWV before they started cracking, one on the sidewall to the point it was unsafe to drive. (Great for the person who sold me the HMMWV, expensive for me since I thought it had "new" tires. I never...
Military tires have a max of 10 years (assuming they were not stored in the sun, bad conditions, etc!). Don't risk your life or someone elses. Always look at the DOT codes and then use that to determine the amount of inspection required, or if it's time to replace them or not.
I had Goodyear...
Minnesota is HMMWV friendly (not necessarily all military vehicle friendly, law is written that the vehicle must have a civilian version of the same dimensions and weight to be eligable...)
If the contacts in the windshield are still original, you can use some dielectric grease with a few small washers as a temporary workaround. But it's not that difficult to swap out the contacts with new ones. (I have do that last year.). Also when doing this, you will probably need to replace...
Trusting old tires is not worth your or other drivers safety. You REALLY need to replace them with new tires.
The original style Goodyear Wrangler MT are available again, just have to special order them through a tire store with a goodyear commercial account.
