"High Flow" air tank cable drain valves

I have those cables on my air tanks too. It takes a few minutes to drain them it's mostly for the ease of draining any water and it works well for that. To quickly drain the air tanks, I recommend adding a fitting back by the glad hand. Could even just remove the glad hand all together if you...

    Hot in Arizona

That makes sense, I would believe it was contract and they weren't the wiser or didn't care. It shouldn't surprise me, I mean once the "government" did their thing with the M16, we all know how that went down.

Thanks for the info! I still wonder why though, why the ltd was the standard and not the lds?

    M1123 starting issue

From what I've seen, mostly the switches on Amazon/Ebay, they are just like you said, they aren't meant to handle a high constant amperage, ones I saw specified 20-30 amps, but the description always mentioned 12 volt, not 24, and from what I understand, the amps are cut in half from 12-24, so a...

    Hot in Arizona

It appears that the lds edges out the ldt in terms of power, performance, and wider range of rpm. Makes me wonder why the lds never became the standard for the deuce and why the ldt was the standard. If there's a thread about this somewhere, perhaps someone could point me to it, that to me...

    M125-A1 Cargo Truck Cummins V8 300 Powered

Heck yeah, so far it looks like this restoration is going really well. I find it amazing just how big those ten ton trucks are. How much fun it is to cruise around in one must be priceless!

New to me M35A3, suggestions needed

Might not be a bad investment to find a M105 trailer for the deuce so you can transport things if need be, or remove the tank from the truck and get a water buffalo. Any plans to fix that pump so everything is functional? I know there is a deuce firetruck in the classifieds. Might be parted...

    M1123 starting issue

Put the original switch back in? Sounds like the ignition switch went bad. If it was that switch, I would just invest in a keyed battery shut off switch so you don't have those same issues again.

    10 Ton M123 A1C & 10 Ton M123 E2 Rescue

Haha, camo paint them and no one will even see it anyways 🤔🤣

Anyone have issues bonding to Behr paint with adhesives?

An easy way to find out is paint a piece of scrap metal or something and put that adhesive on it. Try it on a regular painted surface and then some on a prepped (sanded, degreased). Adhere some type of plastic that you can grab and after it's fully cured, how hard is it to pull off and then you...

New to me Deuce with matching trailer - wrenching post

As far as engine temp goes, that's about right. The multi-fuel engines run fairly cool but will warm up as they are driven. Mine will cool down to about 150 or so when idling, the warmest I ever seen it was 160, 180-190 when driving. As for oil pressure, that could be a few things. Could be a...

M35A2 vs. M35A3 In Snow and Ice

NDT's are horrible in the winter. My old deuce had the NDT's and living in MI, we get a fair share of snow. Almost felt like driving with ice skates on. With my current deuce, the Michelin 395's are absolute beasts in the snow. Last winter I had no issues at all, barely any sliding at all. Even...

    10 Ton M123 A1C & 10 Ton M123 E2 Rescue

Wow, those trucks were driven on the highway to hell! Yet still here and a second chance to rolling coal again. I look forward to seeing the restoration!

New M109 owner. Greetings from central Washington!

Glad to hear you got her home now. If you made it that far and a tire was the biggest issue, sounds like you got a solid truck.

MV of the Month September 2022

I like Chucky's idea, but that would mean more people need to get involved. Seems like some months, there are quite a few entries, other months, not many. Need to find a way to get people to want to be involved, perhaps some kind of award or prize for the months winner. The idea could be...

M809 M54 M35 Cab Roll Cage, Roll Bar

That's gonna take one heck of a roll cage to stop that truck from turning it's occupants into a pancake. A simple roll over is one thing, it merely just needs to support the weight, but any kind of roll over with speed, there's no real way of ever knowing that would hold up. I thought about...

    Hot in Arizona

Well unfortunately we can't control knuckleheads and their impatience, but a faster cruising speed is understandable. One alternative is to adjust the fuel setting so the motor has a little more power. Add a pyro meter to keep an eye on exhaust temps. If you find some 11r 20 NDT's or G177...

    Charging system

My guess is because it's an easy fix and the last link between a faulty part and the alternator.

    Charging system

A quick easy test to see if the alternator works at all, once the truck is running, unhook the batteries. If the voltage meter crashes, no juice period from the alternator. I would say by looking at the gauge itself, the needle will be in the mid yellow to low yellow range on good batteries if...

    M35A2 has been sitting for 40+ years…

Pictures are worth a thousand words. From a description, sounds like a crap shoot. From the picture perspective, it looks to be in great shape! Hopefully the owner can be reached, if you get that truck for $3k or less, that's one heck of a start. Since this thread has quite the following...
