Bought Someone’s M1078 Camper Project- Seeking Direction on a Couple Issues

Just shooting from the hip here: Captured spring designs are for durable and reasonable stiff boxes. Even if you put that box on another subframe, you need to ask yourself how durable and torsion resistant that box is. Every spring mounted torsion free frame will have some twist. Those welds...

Fmtv transmission and CTIS displays suddenly turned off

That was my guess. The switch has circuitry in it. Maybe it is burned out. My truck came with your style switch and was swapped to manual due to a failure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Keith's M1078A1 Project Overland

Kieth, I think you need more practice fabricating parts. Luckily, I have a list of things that need built and I am happy to help you out! [emoji1787] Beautiful work as usual. Some day my welds will hopefully be that clean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They used to sell parts, but stopped as far as I know….. my understanding is they only support their customers now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bought Someone’s M1078 Camper Project- Seeking Direction on a Couple Issues

You will want a compliant way to mount the box. The aluminum is going to crack at the welds if you leave it hard bolted. The problem with stud toy walls (and joist type roofs), is the stud usually touches the outer skin and the inner wall skin. That creates a thermal bridge. You will get mold...

    Military connector crimpers

Crimper came in today. What setting do you all use for the pins and sockets (talking metal pin or metal socket parts not rubber boot etc )? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    M1088 camper conversion

Also, unless you have a forklift handy, having you bed at 5’ in the air is pretty useless for normal hauling. I would make a box how you want it, then put a drop hitch for a normal trailer. Just my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes, you can pull out two pins and the stairs comes off. Almost too easily, makes me concerned about theft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Military connector crimpers

I broke down and bought another af8 on eBay. Price was good enough. On some of my connectors, just the rubber boot is garbage. Is it reasonable to just replace that or is that a royal PITA? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just FYSA, I bought a set of these and there are two things I found out….. 1. You can buy direct from the manufacturer and they gave me a discount and also give vets, etc discounts (not a vet, but close enough). Just ask…. 2. The top step did not line up right for my application. If you count...

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

Maybe it would be good for those on here with differing beliefs to work together to come up with a reasonably repeatable range of easy tests to determine what an actual difference is made under various specific load conditions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

Cost aside….. I think the ideal solution would be a two speed transfer case. I have an old automatic Toyota with a two speed transfer case that I used to off-road. (I know…apples- oranges), but I will will say I was always glad I had the low range when off-road. That is especially true with...
