It was common practice in the older deuces to put the headlights low in NON-winched trucks. Then around the early '70's they started relocated the headlights topside on ALL deuces.
I punched a 1/4-1/2 hole in radiator on my deuce. I drained it and used an acid flux solder (plumbing type stuff from Home Depot) and a butane torch. Two years later, no issues;-)

Looks great! As the paint gets rinsed (rain etc) the paint will get flatter. During the first few rinsings, you'll get dark streaks in the paint. No worries as that's an ingredient in the latex paint that'll rinse out (would otherwise be absorbed by wood). Do not get her wet for at least a week...
Have you checked the pressure relief valve on top of the axle first? I found I had a leaky axle on my deuce and thought it was the seal. Later found the pressure relief valve was plugged, thus causing a build up in pressure within the axle...forced fluid out through the seal.
