Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

That is because when you introduce more fluid/air that changes the compression ratio!! The combustion bowl is designed to handle a greater fuel/air volume. The consumption of fuel goes from 10 mph to like 5 mph. You would hydro lock the engine without the extra capacity.

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

The sleeves I have received had a very light hone but that is not unusual. The liners were done by a machine, not by hand that makes a big difference. If the rings are moly it would be very smooth. Most OEMs and ring manufacturers specify a surface finish of 15 to 25 RA for moly faced rings...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

Oil pressure is higher that coolant pressure. You would see oil in the coolant. You need to do an exhaust gas test on your cooling system. I have seen funny things from a cracked head. Sometimes it pressurizes the cooling system and coolant goes everywhere or when the engine is cold it leaks...

Qustions about an Niehoff 100/40 amp 14/28 volt Alternator for a M35a2

Bolt in Niehoff Model This is the direct bolt in Niehoff alternator. It uses the same pulley. I read up on there alternator and they are 70% efficient. It less hp's to drive them then a conventional alternator that is 50% efficient. They are a sealed unit.

Qustions about an Niehoff 100/40 amp 14/28 volt Alternator for a M35a2

I am mechanic and a machinist as well. I was a line welder and then foreman of a welding fabrication shop for a drill rig manufacturer 6 year. The company paid for all our certification. We only needed a few certification for what we were doing. Just stick and Mig solid wire and FCAW structural...

Qustions about an Niehoff 100/40 amp 14/28 volt Alternator for a M35a2

I ordered one! As my buddy Carson would say I pulled the trigger on it. I don't have the a balancer and I have a 20 year old alternator. I did the math and it was not far off from an new model alternator and a good high amp balancer!! I am a mechanical engineer and I don't like half assing...

Qustions about an Niehoff 100/40 amp 14/28 volt Alternator for a M35a2

I have a LEECE-NEVILLE MODEL 3002AE. I talked to them today, It is discontinued but they still make parts, but they have don't have any info on site other than AMA-5102UT replaces it. So will have the ask if you can get a 100 amp stator from a rebuild place. I did find niehoff alternator N1505-1...

Qustions about an Niehoff 100/40 amp 14/28 volt Alternator for a M35a2

M35a2 Alternators I looked at every Alternator that has been on an M35A2 since 1974 and all of the technical specs from the original manufacture's and found that there civilian rating was 80-90 amp. The 1974 parts manual has it listed a 30-80 amp alternator. So that being said they make more...

Qustions about an Niehoff 100/40 amp 14/28 volt Alternator for a M35a2

This was the alternator that was used in the test on the 5 ton link. Under the Mil part number 10929868 it is 60 amp but if you cross-reference the number you get the civilian number AMA-5104UT that is rated for 90 amp.

Qustions about an Niehoff 100/40 amp 14/28 volt Alternator for a M35a2

Since we now know that we have 100 amps coming from our Alternator maybe the best way to go is a Battery Equalizer. What do think Rusty??

The new EPA fuel cans suck!!!

NO-Spill is a carb cert fuel can but it is the best fuel can I ever owned!! You can also put a hose on the end of the nozzle. The NO-Spill cans are not cheap. I have five of them and I have had them for years now and not one issue. I would post a picture but the site will not let me.

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

When I installed mine, I lubed then and had to hammer them down the bore with a piece of wood and a hammer to hook them up to the rods. I sprayed them with WD the night before and greased them in the morning.

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

I live down the road from TNJ Murray. I drive down and buy stuff all the time there. The guy you are talking to is probably Albray, he is the parts manager there. I have not had a problem with the kits.
