There is no carb on this diesel.
You need to change the fuel filter and empty the fuel canister and then see if your lift pump is providing fuel to the fuel filter and canister. If you have that then crack a few injectors to see if fuel is getting to the injectors while cranking. You need to...
With house paint touch-ups are easy. My paint job is over six years old and has held up very well. A little faded from being stored outside but it's still in very good shape. I keep small Mason jars with one with green paint and one with black in the truck. 1" throw away "chip" paint brushes...
Even Dino oil today is a far better oil than what they had years ago. What SF rating to they have today SL or something like that? I remember SC so they have come a long way.
I happen to be an old A&P so I know those old name sealants very well. I was just talking to my oldest boy about using them for better results. The old red high temp Permatex spray a gasket is a lifesaver for holding gaskets in place.

I run Rotella 15/40 conventional motor oil in my normally aspirated 6.5. If I had a turbo then I would run a synthetic. The engine can run quieter with a conventional oil.

Just listened to the 2nd video and I believe it's a stuck open injector. Explains the sound and the smoke. As suggested crack the injector lines one at a time to isolate. If it is stuck open don't drive it as the poor cylinder is getting washed.
When you get on it what color is the smoke and how much of it is there. Could be an injector failing. Get a stethoscope to help isolate the noise.

It's all a compromise. I first did part of my truck in semi gloss and it didn't look good at all but the Satin (Matt) did what I wanted. My paint job is over six years old and the paint probably lost half of the sheen. My truck sits outside so the sun does its thing.
