Ditto on the GM inners. Mine came without the extra strap bracing for the battery trays so I cut the old ones off and used them on the new inner fender.
If you switch to Optima or other gel cell batteries, they won't puke acid all over the fender and start the process again. If you want to...
Yep, I broke a valve stem on one of mine when I was installing the CTIS valve! Argh. I got one from Winslow. There is a company that sells the OE ones. I found it by Google'ing the P/N. I think 1075 found a supplier too. They aren't cheap anywhere though.
Sam Winer in OH lists high speed tractors and parts in their ads in Military Vehicles Magazine. They might be able to help you out. I would love to see some pics of the whole tractor. I had tossed the idea of getting a M2 a while back.
Chris da Krazy Hawaiian:
Welcome to SS. I am sure you find all the Humvee help you need here. I deleted your poll because we try not to get into politics on this site. People tend to get pissed off at each other and that interferes with more constructive MV conversations. I also moved your...
RE: I
I ran an electric pump from a civi 2500 chevy truck on my 1009 for almost 8 years before it finally died. I tapped into an accessory wire on the fuse block so it didn't kick on unless the key was in the on postion. It was a heckofa lot better than a mechanical pump. Especially when it...
Great pics. I'm glad you were able to save it! Is it going to your property? Did you make a drawing of the timbers and number everything to put it back together or is there a better way to do it?
:) The Caddy 500 came out and the 6.2L went back in. All of the rust was cut out and replaced with fresh steel parts. The whole thing was sprayed with 383 Gillispie Green and then sold to a guy near Charlottesville, VA.

Sweet! Then we'll fit right in with the rest of those looney toons! I am surprised nobody lost an arm that night.
Check the frame where the steering box bolts. That area is poorly supported and often has cracks around the mounting holes. The frame on my 1009 folded up like an accordion just behind the steering box when I crashed it into a boulder off-road.
RE: Re: RE: larc-v for sale via auction
I'm glad I won it. The first thing I am going to do is drive to Bjorn's and run through his fording test-pond. Then, I am going to give some LARC tours on scenic Lake Haspin.
Also, keep in mind the age of your tires. There haven't been any new 14R20 XL's in a good while. I think my tires on the 923A2 ranged in age from 8-10 years old. There are some tires even older than that coming out on surplus trucks. What looks like a little weather checking on an fully...
If you look at the first photo in my post, it is what Mike is describing. Flat genset-type trailer with 2 axles, 8 tires, and a track going around him. I didn't say he was a jerk for reposting. Just wanted to provide the link to the previous post. I'm sure I have reposted something in the...
