Re: RE: Re: RE: Pictures of FMTV Tires
M1075 was gonna check his rims for us (hint, hint).
I think the consensus so far is that the rims won't center on the lugs correctly since the back-side isn't countersunk. If that's correct, then you'd have to flip your rear hubs and run the...
Was it loaded or unloaded at the time? Most of the incidents involving violent trailer wagging that I have seen, experienced or read about were because there was too much weight behind the axle center-line making the tongue weight too low.
Bjorn, I've considered it, but I only had a few decent offers last time I listed so I may go with David Uhrig MV Broker instead. I am also considering respraying the whole truck myself. I have a good spray-gun setup now so if I can get a few hours here and there to do it, then I may go ahead...
I bid early to watch the bidders. I was going to bid on the last day, but they went over my budget. I think they went for $8-10k, which is a good price, but a little higher than I wanted to go. Man they are huge!!
Cdub, thanks. It is starting to come together real well cosmetically. If I...
Took a few new pics today. I repainted the bumper, the tailgate and the hood-sides. I put all my bows back together with the help of my bro-in-law. After that we hoisted my new 3-color cargo top in place to really make it look sharp, but... turns out the top was for a deuce. Sigh...
Are you speaking from experience? I was really doubtful about the auto in my 923, but after driving it to and from Aberdeen, I love it. I know from one of your other posts that you are anti- Cummins, but I assure you that the NHC 250 and 8.3 CTA are very stout engines.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Pictures of FMTV Tires
The CTIS doesn't weaken the rim. The wheel valve is secured to the clamp-ring studs. On the FMTV, one end of the air line comes through a hub stud and the other is secured to the regular wheel valve stem. So, the rim doesn't have any extra...
I will take a look at my truck tonight and study the schematic to see if I can find any more potential problems. Sounds like something is back-feeding into the charging system. My truck had some terrible grounding issues when I got it. It's got to be something big though to keep cooking the alt.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Pictures of FMTV Tires
You're right Clinto, it was Damon. Here's a pic I got from his eBay. Looks good. I'll have to search his threads to see how the hub flip went, unless you read this Damon and care to chime in here ;)
Re: RE: Pictures of FMTV Tires
That thought crossed my mind tonight. Would that give you the same track width all the way back? I do like the look of the FMTV wheels all facing the same way. The supply of 939 2-piece rims is limited. There should be a lot more of the FMTV rims in the...
RE: Pictures of FMTV Tires
Great shots David! Thanks. The close-up on the lug holes makes it look like they are beveled on the outside only. I wonder what would happen if they were flipped and run on the rear. If they are hub-centered, they should ride just fine, but if they are...
