not sure the full story.... seems that the older lever style switch the ground was thru the mounting bolts. On the new push button there was either not a seperate ground bolt until a second generation.... or there was one all along, but soldier/mechanic skipped using it thinking since the lever...
@Keith Knight ... does your light switch have a ground wire on it? Updated push button ones do. The non grounded as Ronmar mentions had problems... including a few fires.... traced back to the light switch.
FL to AL. .. Matters where to where lol. Miami to Huntsville is still nearly 15-16 hours 865-ish miles in an LMTV...... yet Graceville FL to Dothan AL is 25-ish miles and 40ish min in an LMTV. Granted... Neither is like driving to Alaska yet....
mount..... just need better pics to really offer advice.
Looks from these small amount of info the builder copied the cargo bed design. Has an Aluminum C channel on bottom that bolts to truck chassis. Not sure if it is bolted same way as bed with plates or what.
Anyway..... if he blocks up...
Have thought about old rims too and cut lot of sidewall out of an old tires and screw them to the rim just to not sink in dirt or to NOT cut up cement floor (no garage, much less a floor at my place though).... or try to attach cut up tire to them in a tire chain like manner
another idea of...
they did that once .. got to selling parts; then dropped the ball a year later. Would be wise for them to do it again if they are willing to do it right.
that one plate of 4/23 on it is what likely threw them off. What is that plate? Does not look like the main plate by driver knee. Will be interesting to see what the paperwork he gets actually says
condensation..... IMHO just plan on oversized de-humidifier in your build and a way to power it. Of course doing "reasonable" things to mitigate it too will help... Rolled roof has advantage leak wise. Did he glue all the skin on? What about roof? What glue if so?
yep...... your concern is a big one. That set up will rip apart. IMHO this may well be why project stopped and did not move forward. Would need complete re-done in mounting department. Was aware of this rig for sale and asked the seller about it. Was not in the market myself.... but saw...
The material I read when trying search for big rig tarp cleaning...... was all over the place (like here) on cleaner but over and over saw repeated to use 303 protectant afterwords

would think with some fabrication it could be figured out how to put a long enough one for taller rigs.
didn't respond yesturday so a notification of a message didn't get your hopes up or distract you from other tasks..... so its a day later now... hope you found something and are back on the road.
Best of luck, Drive Safe.
