RAAF C-17 Globemaster + Roulettes | Brisbane Riverfire 2018 Flying Displays - YouTube It doesn't get much lower than this Australian Air Force C-17 doing an airshow routine in Brisbane.
Ken is working hard to make Bertha a safer and more enjoyable MV. The backup camera and tv are a great way to prevent accidents, and a good way, to get a look at the pretty girl in the car behind you. Also the camera wiring routed to the rear of the truck is simple and tidy. The dome (map...
A few months back Ken picked up a set of convoy lights for Bertha. As you can see there's a lot more to installing a pair of these lights than meets the eye.
Scrubbed the fuel tank inside and out, and gave the exterior a coat of Woodland Green. Also replaced the gas cap with a new one from Bigmike. Will make a run to NAPA then slide the fuel tank back in the truck.
When Ken purchased Bertha there were some areas that needed some TLC, and one of these areas was the seats. They were a bit weathered and torn so Ken removed them from the truck, and turned them over to his much better half. Ken's girlfriend must have some experience in the upholstery business...
With the fuel tank removed, I was able to remove the forward r/h splash guard. It was a bit tweaked, so I straightened it out with a hard rubber mallet and a couple of 2X4s. It had a lot of excess paint that was flaking, so I spent some time with the sander and got rid of the crusty paint. Then...
Guys I volunteered for this assignment along with my partner in crime m715mike. In the past I have entered my M35A2C and M38A1. So doing an MV of the Month on Ken's M923A2 Bertha is a new challenge. I have never owned a 5 Ton, but I want to do Bertha right. I'll start with some basic information...
B-29s "Doc" and "Fifi" Flying Together! - EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017 - YouTube A nice video of Doc & FiFi flying together at Oshkosh in 2017. FiFi was also rescued from China Lake.
I finally decided to replace the Fuel Gauge Sending Unit on the Deuce. If the fuel gauge gets a little below FULL the needle starts to bounce all over the place, and I already replaced the fuel gauge. I have also scrubbed the fuel tank out, and will replace the fuel gauge sending unit gasket...
Here's the B-29 "DOC" in 1987 at NAS China Lake. She was the last B-29 at China Lake, and she wouldn't be removed till 1998. In 2000 she was disassembled and moved to Wichita for restoration.
(1) B-29 Superfortress Low and LOUD! - YouTube This is the B-29 "Doc" taking off, doing a couple low passes and landing. This is the 2nd airworthy B-29, the other is FiFi. Doc was a derelict at NAS China Lake since the late 50s before being rescued in 2000 and shipped to Wichita Kansas for...
Today I did an oil and filter change. Usually I use 30wt as recommended, but a friend suggested with winter weather just around the corner, give 20-50wt a try. So we'll see how it works.
