Looking for some help on this one. I have a MEP-007B with the Cat 3306 engine 100kw generator. Has 1000 hrs on it.
Genset background:
- Has not been running in roughly 11 years.
- Was in use when it quit, the guys I got it from had no idea what was wrong with it.
- Barn stored after it quit...
Ok, going through the TM electrical diagram A27-TB3 has the pump connections before they go to A5 (behind the main front panel). Does anyone know where they hid A27/TB3?
I will start diagnosing A5 later today if I can verify continuity from A5 terminals to the pumps. Still looking for how...
I replaced these diodes, located on a bracket to the left (front) side of the day tank. Per the TM, they are for radio interference; either way mine were broke/corroded. Still no power though.
Is this the same bracket you are talking about?
I do have the TM's, I have read them -12 & -24 (I am still at a loss as to why there is a day tank at all on this genset). I spoke with Cat mechanic shop and they say, bypass the day tank and pump straight to the engine if possible since any excess will bypass internal check and return to the...
Red, (or others)
Did you solve this issue? I have a 007B with 3306 cat doing the exact same thing. Even with Battle short on, the 2 lift pumps do not receive any power. Diodes C27 and C28 were bad, I changed them, still no power to the pumps. Re-set the mag pickup (ran it in until it touched the...
Thanks for all the feedback on this; I ended up not going with the SX460 and instead replaced all the diodes on the board with heavier 1000v/2A diodes. Did this and gen fired right up no problem. I have attached pictures so this may help someone down the road.
On a side note; Oshkosh now offers...
Hello Ray70, Thanks for the reply, From my research, the issue arises from the initial flash required when installing the SX460 and removing the A11. From my reading, if you have 5vdc-'ish' at the poles in residual power, you can flash it. I know some folks on here add a push button to make a...
Good afternoon,
I am working with a MEP-005a, trying to install the SX460 for the Voltage Regulator but not sure what other items from the Static Exciter portion of A11 should be removed. The generator is currently setup for 120/208 3-phase. Just looking to see what you ended up doing on yours...
Good morning, bumping this thread.
Same issue as noted in the thread, A11 Voltage Regulator (internal board) as pictured has all blown diodes (SEE PIC. M2). Generator at full RPM has 1.7VAC at the main posts in the 120/208 3Phase configuration.
I need clarity on where my SX460 ties into the...
