    Charging Failiure

There isnot much room in there. Was going to make a center console for mine to put tge evap in front of the intake, and add a drip pan...

    Charging Failiure

Well worst case a 100ah group 31 wet cell bank will try and draw 25A. If it is charged, the load will be nothing significant. Lighting load is 10-15A@24V. Not sure what the rest of the loads total up to @24v... so best case probably within its limit, worst case slightly overloaded...

two small metal teeth on transfer case drain plug

That bearing is behind the C6. In order for those parts to make it out of that rear housin to the strainer, they had to pass thru the C6 clutch. I would expect when you get the C6 off the back of the trans, you will find similar damage as that documented in the thread linked above... it cost...

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

Is the mog an automatic? Remember this truck was not built for a commercial application. It was built to meet a MILSPEC. In the land of milspec, often serious compromises are acceptable, and often not even looked for/tested… A prime example of this on this same platform, is the grossly...

Highway speed gear 3.07 vs 2.87

Your not really dropping the 2:1, you are shifting it to the torque converter, which is so lightly used in these trucks typically because of the 2:1 in the hubs. IMO, Thats why the 2-3 shift happens so fast and so harsh(The lockup clutch was programmed to expect more load and slippage). With...

    Eco Hub install

In the manual… Cycling the power on till you get a trans display, then off, 6 times in a row should do it. On the 6th power on, fully depress and release the gas pedal so the TCU can relearn the throttle min and max positions, then press the start button and go drive it. i think this is as...

Well so far it is testing out pretty well… go checkout the ECO hub discussion…

    Eco Hub install

The fronts originally took 13oz each when empty. You confirm this ammount by setting the filler port to the 4 O'clock position and seeing if oil just starts to come out. The gears have been removed, but the volume of the hub has also been decreased significantly. It is not good to too deeply...

    M1078 LMTV planetary hub setup

Yea where refining the lash pays off is in it running quieter and cooler with the most efficient gear contact. As mentioned it is not rocket surgury. And I agree, because of that, that is probably why we don’t see many hub issues, in fact the only ones I recall from recent history it was...

    M1078 LMTV planetary hub setup

Well in order for gear wear to be a factor, you would have to have a LOT of metal shaved off of the teeth of those very hard gears, left lying in the hub to make a significant difference In lash. Remember, the spider gears are sandwiched between the fixed inner bevel gear and the rotating outer...

two small metal teeth on transfer case drain plug

Ok, that sheds a little more light on this mystery. It appears Allison has re specced this part 2 if not 3 times. A question I had in the other discussion was that the part number for the old bearing in the service information letter(SIL 17-WT-11en) that Langstonhs referenced, was not the same...

Yes on the 24v charger, hook it up like the nato plug in the above drawing.

    M1078 battery help

The starter has its OWN 24v lead to the solenoid on top of the starter. that why there are two 24v terminals in the battery box, one to the top polarity box terminal, and one to the starter solenoid. The top terminal on the alternator is 24V the next one down/outboard is 12V, and the third...

    M1078 battery help

Couple of ways. The A0 has a 12v vampire load, so a 24v charger will not charge the batteries equally. You can get a small 5A balancer and then use a 24v charger or a 12v charger connected to either battery. you can also get something like a Noco 2 bank charger and connect it to both...

two small metal teeth on transfer case drain plug

I think if you look closer you may find there are 2 crossmembers, one in the subframe above the main frame… that may depend on the model truck we are dealing with though. The 1079 subframe has a welded member there, about 3 inches behind the transmission. you would have to remove a bunch of...

two small metal teeth on transfer case drain plug

I agree with general, looks like a cage for the thrust bearing.. on the passenger side of the transfer, there is a port with a hose that runs up to the scavenger pump On the passenger side of the trans housing. If you remove that line and the fitting that connects the line to the transfer...
