Happy birthday to me (trans cooler failed)

Drained the oil out a couple more days and topped it back off again. Drove it around the block, no snot. Oil is pretty clear now. Also I did manage to think ahead a little and drain off various oil changes into 20oz bottles. The first "test drive" on oil changes settled out in a day or two...

    M819 wrecker questions?

The wreckers can lift 20K lbs. But only from a fixed position and with outriggers and the ground supports for the boom. That's only using the hoist to lift as well and the crown retracted and the load directly behind the rear of the truck. 15ft out and 16K lbs is going to be well outside the...

    BANKS SIDEWINDER and other questions

Used a 7K curb weight. Yes, that's a total guess given all the variants of F-250's. It's an apples to oranges comparison, but my 99 Dodge 2500 with a 5.9 ex-cab 4x4 weighed 7300lbs with a toolbox and junk loaded in it. Here's what the 2008 curb weights were listed, so I went to the high end...

You're right. I'm just going to leave it be. It appears that cucvsrus also is done with the discussion as well.

Questions in posts 41 and 67 were directly posed to you. They were: Which you "thanked" him for. Not really a question, but more of a request I suppose. Then my post in #67 That was a secondary question after you stated "I rest my case" when you compared your truck to a heavily modified...

    73 mph M1008

Mind helping out with some of the unanswered questions that have been asked from you in post number 41 and 67 of this thread? The speedo you posted certainly could happen from a 1009 according to the math.

    BANKS SIDEWINDER and other questions

Well, there's still nearly 100 hp missing from your numbers? Seems your numbers lately aren't adding up. [emoji6]

    BANKS SIDEWINDER and other questions

Gale banks' builds are so fueled by propane it's hard to believe there'd be any unburnt diesel at all!

    BANKS SIDEWINDER and other questions

Judging on a curb weight of 7000 lbs and your quart mile time of 13.2, that number is a bit off. More like 500hp. (Works out that way on both weight vs. ET and trap speed vs weight) http://www.competitiondiesel.com/Phil/bg/ Unless you're trying what many do of "adding up all the mods". That...

    Umm not exactly.

HMMWV's for sale, no longer maybe, it happened

There's more coming up for auction? I thought they were all armored and going to be scrapped by an Aussie contractor?

Which would happen since the cell phones aren't on the same network. Please see post 10 and 13.

    M1028 6.2 engine swap for a 6.5 turbo charged.

I didn't mean that to be argumentative. But I just don't like the thoughts off higher boost on a 6.2/6.5 due to the high CR they have. I'm sure I could make more power with my 1008, but it's a risk/reward thing to me.

You have a built 6.2 in your CUCV? I thought it was stock?

    73 mph M1008

Yup, Heath's diesel holds a land speed record for a 6.5. But it's HEAVILY modified to stand up to 5K rpm.

    73 mph M1008

Interesting bit of info. The detroit 6.2 has a "redline" of 3600rpm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Diesel_V8_engine That'd co-inside with the 3400 defuel point.

    73 mph M1008

The injection pump has a governor in it, as the governed speed is reached, it starts restricting/defueling. There's no throttle valve on a diesel, so speed is controlled by fuel delivery. A gas engine would either limit speed through ignition, fuel delivery, or reach a mechanical limit where...

    73 mph M1008

I'm just still wondering how it's possible given the pump starts defueling at 3400~3600 rpm and you'd have to be at 4500 rpm if the speedo is right. Stranger things have happened of course. But a thousand RPM over defuel I've never heard of. (100, 300, maybe 500rpm yes, 1K no.) Let alone how...
