HMMWV's use a interesting valley mounted turbo setup.
Banks doesn't make one of these that I know of. (Nor would I personally give them the money) I think the 6.5 van setups use a comparable turbo setup, but I'm not sure 100%.
Don't see a ring mount working easily on a 2 door due to lack...
I disagree on the welding the wastegate shut. 6.2/6.5's can't handle a ton of boost. I would agree to remove the stock wastegate actuator and install a "turbo master". This is just replacing the actuator with a threaded rod, spring, and nylon lock nut. Allowing you to dial in the boost. I'd...
And on that note, here's a fun fact that I bet a lot of you didn't know. Take a look at your speedo. (Well an older cable driven speedo, not a modern electronic speedo) Look at the 0-10~15 marks, take a look at the space. Now, look at the space between the say 75-85 mark (Or whatever the...
External pump and filtering wouldn't get the brunt of the oil. It's all the little nooks and crannies that are the trouble. There's also no converter drain plug. :( That alone would have saved me a lot of time and hassle.
I'm just going to drive it a few more times on this oil, then refill...
So I've updated the transmission thread. But things seem to be on the upward swing now.
So back to the turbo!
WOW! There's a hill going to town that I normally have to downshift to go up it. While I did slow down to ~45mph, I stayed in 5th gear going up it! So should it still be a "S"EMTT?
All these kind words must be helping the SEMTT. It seems the transmission is shifting fine now and hopefully after another oil change or two, will be buttoned up for good!
That is why I shifted to using diesel fuel. Much cheaper per gallon and would mix with water easier. Also I've added IPA into it as well, that helps lift the water out of the oil as well as evaporate it faster along with the glycol.
There's just not a water separating filter that I know of...
Drove around the block, oil is still pretty clear, I think/home/pray it's time for a longer drive to heat it up good and drive out the moisture and IPA.
So, from ~280,000 HMMWW's. 4,000 of them were selected to be auctioned. And out of 4,000 of them, only 25 (well 27 since there's two more listed now) aren't armored and are sold/to be sold?
I'm not an expert on the matter so this is purely speculation.
Let's say there's 280K variants out...
There was some well known people that declared the oval office was behind the EPA debacle as well.
This is why we didn't just run out and say they would sell HMMWVs.
I don't recall what posting it was in, but I recall it stating that 4,000 were what so far has been earmarked for sale. AM General has produced over 280K HMMWV variants. Of course the armored stuff won't be sold. And I know a lot of stuff got up armored. But it stands to reason there's far...
