    Duramax engine swap

I don't think anyone assumed you were going to intentionally overheat the engine. Keep in mind we are not attacking you. We are posting to try to HELP you. I don't know what your experience is and although I am new to the HMMWV and Diesel world I am NOT new to mechanics, engine builds, engine...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

For me it is the depth of the switch that is important. As for what causes them to burn out, I wonder if they had the same problems when the vehicles were in service? Once they get into the public's hand and backup lights, license plate lights, fog lights, markers on the roof etc. are added...

    Can someone ID this winch

Definitely a Mile Marker since it says it right on it. Looks like a 10,500 lb winch. The solenoids probably say 24V on them. The hard line and valve setup is identical to the winch setup for a HMMWV. If the last picture shows the mounting brackets I can't tell what they are from the picture...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

That may be but how many of the thousands and thousands that were made actually failed? The next question would be why did they fail? Where they designed for trucks that use LED lights and people retrofitting them overloaded them? I converted all my lights to LED and that should be a...

    Hmmwv front bumper options

My suggestion would be to do a google search on "HMMWV front bumper" then click on "Images" and start looking at all the pictures. Find one you like then start asking questions on the ones you like. I have yet to see a front bumper I like the looks of. Most of them stick out a foot in front...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I picked up one of the electronic light switches to replace the old style lever switch. The lever switch worked fine and I had complaints about it except the space it took up. The levers stick out and one of the future mods I would like to make is moving the steering column in about 2 inches...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

This weekend it was time to address some of the abuses done over the last 27 years to the truck. My front brush guard had a little tweak on the passengers side and although hardly noticeable it bothered me. We put a torch to it and pry bar and now it looks good as new. It took maybe 5...

    Lighting system.

I went to a local auto parts store and bought a 12v plate light and asked the guy for a 24v bulb that fit. 3 minutes later I was on my way with a 24v plate light.

    Duramax engine swap

The Duramax has Aluminum heads, the last thing you want to do it overheat it.

HMMWV Front Shackle mount/Tow Point dimensions

Or are you talking about this shackle?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I'm very interested in how the controller works out. Please give us an update when you get it done. Thanks

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

What are you using for a TCU? What transfer case? What motor is it going behind?

    Duramax engine swap

I too have used hockey pucks for body lifts in the past. What I learned is hockey pucks are made from hard brittle rubber that dry rots quickly, doesn't hold up to automotive oils and crack from pressure. They also have no flex, might as well use aluminum pucks. Good Luck

    Shifter markings M998

Start searching google for HMMWV Surplus and you will find companies that sell surplus parts. You can also look on ebay. Here is a picture for you.

    Duramax engine swap

FYI, hockey pucks don't hold up well over time. The hard rubber they are made out of tend to dry up and crack. If you are going through the trouble to put a Duramax in why skimp out on the body lift?

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I've been paying attention to the threads about glow plugs and controllers as well as engine threads. I have been thinking about what I would like to do with my Humvee. I have a truck with a low mileage Duramax that I have considered for a donor in a conversion but I really don't like the...

M1025A2's who bought one of the 8

Beside the obvious fluids being checked and changed, tires, general running condition, charging and starting etc., driving a perfectly good HMMWV for 1500 miles would be task. I'd rather drive it 1500 miles in the Baja than on highways across states at 45mph. And someone mentioned a chase...

Manual Override of Glow Plug Controller

Earlier today the quantity was 31. I noticed it was down by 15 later in the day. Maybe someone saw my post and stocked up on them to resell for a profit? I just purchased a later model Steering wheel from Mac Motors today. It was my first purchase I have made from the company. The stock...

Manual Override of Glow Plug Controller

I'm curious, why do you think it is used? It doesn't say used. I doubt anyone has 31 used KDS S3 boxes kicking around. Their website "about us" seems to indicate "Mac Motors distributed parts for AM General since 1980 and has been serving all branches of the U. S. Military ever since...

    Spare 6.2L engine question

When I use the term "bolt in" it means without major modifications to make work. All 6.2 and 6.5 GM and GEP are basically "bolt ins". You are correct that different years may require different parts that also "bolt in". A Duramax conversion would be something that I would not consider a "Bolt...
