Thanks for the suggestion but I actually bought this to use as a truck. Hopefully replacing my 97 F350. When I was looking they all seemed to be soft tops and I really wasn't looking forward to a soft top in the winter plowing my driveway. I came across a hard top the guy called an Avenger...
While looking over the truck today I came across a tag on the interior back cabin wall. Thought I would post it to confirm it is an Avenger. Although I covered a couple numbers they are matching Serial Numbers.
I was joking with a buddy of mine, I said we need to build a truck cap with a mock Avenger missile launcher on it. PVC missiles that launch out like the old fake guns that had a flag that said "Bang" on them. Put "Bang", "Pow" and "Boom" on them. It was a fleeting though after I thought...
I am not an expert on this subject. I have done a little reading. If you would like to know more about them I would suggest doing some research and not relying on anything I say. However based on a quick search and a result from Wikipedia here is a quote from that page.

It originally had a Stinger Missile launcher on it as in the picture attached in the second post. Based on my research and what I was told by the previous owner they were called "Avenger's". I don't believe it was an official classification of vehicle but you can find many official video's...
My plunger is all the way to the top and doesn't seem to want to move at all. The reset button doesn't do anything. I'll have to investigate more. I assume, based on your reply, the red line/plunger should be at the bottom of the gauge/cylinder when operating normally.
Great, thanks I feel...
The prior owner did all the maintenance and fluids and kept it in good care. The idler arm was already replaced and he gave me some paper work on something he called a steering gear. I will have to look into what exactly he had done. Prior to him it was in a collection of private Humvee's for...
I have a couple of questions. My air filter meter has a red line at the top of the gauge, I believe it says "20in". So I am wondering if that is good or bad? The reset button doesn't seem to do anything. I don't know if it even works. Any suggestions would be helpful.
When I start the...
I just picked up a 1992 M998 Avenger. I live in Maine and was concerned about registering and insurance etc. Insurance went smooth and was less than expected. When I went to register it they were lost. I have it listed on all the documentation as 1992 AM General M998 Pickup. She eventually...
Additional information comparing H1 and HMMWV design...
It seems as it the major difference is interior creature comforts and that's about it. Note they both have the same standard safety features as well, like 3 point seat belt, windshield wipers, heat and defroster, mirrors etc.

I just purchased one that was registered in 2 states prior to mine. I am getting the previous registration from the prior owner. I will be attempting to register the vehicle next week.
My plan is to bring in the bill of sale and the prior registration that lists the vehicle as a "1992 AM...
