There is an engine in one of the containers that has new liners in it already and is ready to be assembled. Maybe another project for another day. I can't for the life of me figure out where all the time goes, seems there just isn't enough of it to do what needs to be done in a timely manner...

    NHC250 prefilling oil filter canister

Incorrect. Look at all the new Mercedes/Detroit, Isuzu and some PACCAR engines. The cannister filter is not inefficient or obsolete. The filter media is obsolete. With the advance in technology, the cannister filter is coming back because of less waste. Don't spread FUD

    NHC250 prefilling oil filter canister

Or....just leave the fuel off by means of the wire on the fsov or positive shut down, and crank it 'till you see oil pressure. Honestly, in almost 30 years of working on this junk, I ain't seen a failure from not pre filling a filter at oil changes. If you think about the way an oil filter is...

An update, the guys at the Museum pulled the rear armor, air filters and pulled the lids. Lots of rusty parts up top. The cam lobes are all there, the valve cups are clear but pitted on the cam contact face and I noted some scoring on the valve buckets. The oill drain holes are clear. My best...

Anyone with a Deuce near Monrovia, Ca?

Here's what's in the last of the inventory...so far. Hard copies of the -10 and -20's in great cond. A 1964 hard copy of the tm for an M105...the one that shows both axles used, a battlefield damage assessment and field repair tm, camo netting tm, an original, laminated m35a2 LO, a stick of...

    Blow-by assessment - opinions needed!

Here's a tip on "blow-by". First, you can't tell if an engine, any engine, has high CC pressure by just the smoke out the filler cap or road draft tube. The pressure needs to be measured with the proper tool, a manometer, and by the proper method, different manufacturers have different methods...

An update, decided to pull the lids and see if the holes in the cups are plugged up. Jake and I went down to the Museum last Sat and went to work on it while sitting on the line. Got the lids loose, but the studs are a bit too tall to get the v/c off with the air filters installed. Tried...

    8.3 smoking after oil change

What color is it...the smoke :)
  14. WillWagner

    Manually turning over the 8.3

Put a socket and ratchet on the alternator and turn it reverse rotation. The tensioner will hold the belt tension and turn the engine. it won't hold in normal rotation.

    M931A2. Fuel prime

A marine store, as in boat, should have the algaecide. Bosch inline pumps will self prime. Hold your foot to the floor and crank it, it will start. The FSOV has two circuits, pull and hold in. Pull in happens when the engine is cranked, the plunger will pull in. after the engine starts, the...

    Cost of 8.3 Cummins

What's "bad" about it? Did it pee on the carpet? The C is just like the NH, unless it is holed/ has block damage or has a spun bearing/broken crank, they are easily repaired in chassis.

Did a flush, 1 gal of diesel and the rest oil, idled for a while to bring the engine up to temp, drained, refilled. The oil was clean the first drain, no chunks, fairl clear, it has been sitting. My first thought was stuck oil control rings, hence the flush. The smoke was no better/worse after...
