Sort of an old thread, but, I have something to add.
Next time I do this, I am duct taping my thumbnail to my thumbs. You wind up pushing that little ring into place with some serious force (because you are afraid to loosen the ring too much or the whole thing will pop off) like the OP said...
Who has talked to GP and gotten information straight from the horses mouth. We are all fretting over an email, which is not a proper way to conduct legal Business.
Some people get emails, some don't, the methodology is questionable.
Someone give me a fact. I don't know the depth of the...
We did a cross country fundraiser for Mission 22 last year with my M923A2 from Idaho to TX. Long trip. We would take donations for people signing the tarp of the truck. Donations are tough to pry from people, but, Amazing how easy it is to get a donation if you get to write on a 5 ton!
Lots of truth there! I was on a long road trip that started at 2:45 am headed to FT Hood and then to my ranch, I was tired and grumpy and didn't feel like talking and a guy at the gas station would not stop talking to me. I finally interrupted him mid sentence and said, "I have to go now."...
People just love to see a big 5 ton up close. They touch the tires, and the paint and everything. I took mine to Napa yesterday and looked outside and there was a group of guys in their 50's getting their picture taken touching the tires. (And they are still '14's!) what will they do when I put...
Wonder if this has anything to do with the Iron Planet/Ritchie Bros. merger? The deal ain't done yet, if I understand it correctly.
Wonder if Ritchie Bros is concerned about liability from the gov? And this is some attempt by GP to get paperwork in order.
Just throwin stuff out here. An odd...
GP has been scarce on 939's for a while. Had only one 923a2 for about the past week.
I Have 2 GP trucks, 0 emails. when did you gets these emails?
GP isn't the government. GP is a privately owned group who won the bid to, well, do the bidding. What exactly are they asking? All buyers of 5...
That's great! I had the exact same problem, (I think I fixed it!) and your mind races through all the possible seal problems. And $$$$ and time spent adding up in my head. It's very nice feeling to fix it with a turn of a bolt!
Despite the problem, since he's messing with the oil pressure sending port anyway, would now be a good time to switch to a mechanical oil pressure gauge? I bought a Bosch for mine since it pooed out on me. $20 and a more accurate reading.
Kill two birds with one stone. Get a new gauge and step...
Another piece of the puzzle. When I noticed this, I decided it was a good time to check my transmission fluid level. I could not get an accurate reading no matter how many times I tried. It would be so high up on the stick the reading couldn't be right. every time I tried, it was off, a lot.
I have three 923a2's (well, now two, just sold one ... my best one :( ) one of mine is so gutless at low rpm, I'm sometimes scared that a small rock could stop it from coming off the line! A small incline has stopped it dead in its tracks. But, we cruise along at 60-65 with the hammer down...
Well, that might explain the sudden start and unexplained stop of the leak. I looked at it today, and there isn't much sign of a leak. I paid you for 3 seals, so I'll probably replace this one anyway. This way I know what I'm in for if I have to do it again in Death Valley or someplace.
Ok. Will PM you.
How many of these are on the truck? 3? 5? Are they redundant and anywhere a shaft comes out of something? Just trying to get a feel for the number of places they are on the truck.
Is this a pretty common failure? Is it a good idea to keep some in ones long range travel kit...
Did my due diligence. I can't even find the right TM to look through, but maybe Beerslayer can help me on this as he posted some seal numbers, but I'm not sure they are the same part.
First, the leak. The entire undercarriage looked like someone tied an open 5-gal bucket of fluid to the...
Yes, but there is a photo of one installed on top of the fuel filter attachment. That one, I don't get. Maybe it was discussed and I didn't see it. The one on the fuel cap is a good idea.
Dadgummit! You beat me to it! I was going to suggest the same thing.
I question the wisdom behind a Schroeder valve on top of the fuel filter mount. Why would you intentionally add air into a system that you are trying to remove air from? Now the fuel filler cap, brilliant idea!
Or or are...
