M101A2-A3. Best Overall Military Trailer Ever??

Installed new gates in the back AND front on the tan M101A2. Just made a very versatile trailer even more so. Will be installing new cargo D-ring tie downs soon.

What did you do to your trailer today.

Finally installed NOS gates on back and front. The front gate will be very nice and handy!! Next project, besides installing the new free-back brake assembly's, is to paint the trailer CARC green. Its time.

    Turning Radius Question

Yes, they turn like an oil tanker for sure. Owning a 5 ton requires that you plan ahead before turning. You can adjust your steering stops but turn too tight and you risk tearing your Axle boots. So I've read.

    6.2l oil cooler lines

AN fittings are the way to go IMO. I use Aeroquip fittings and hoses since I can get them cheap. Benefits of being in aviation. More expensive of course, but will last the life of the truck. My M1008A1 came with new hoses already installed, but when they need replaced, it's AN fittings for sure.

12v conversion - can any "points of failure" be removed?

Any good starter/alternator rebuild shop deals with 24v stuff all the time. They will look at you normally and say ok. I found a NOS issue starter online. Its my spare. Get the best parts you can afford. It does make a difference.

12v conversion - can any "points of failure" be removed?

Looks like a nice one. Tackling all the issues correctly now will be worth it in the long run. Super frustrating at times.....I know. These are a blast to drive! The Mother-in-law sounds like the Father-in-law on the Christmas Vacation movie.........."one of the light bulbs isn't...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Finally sold my M989A1 HEMAT trailer today. Delivered it for the guy who bought it locally. Man that is a heavy trailer. Tows great, stops great, starting out you definitely know it's there. I will not miss it.

12v conversion - can any "points of failure" be removed?

I would recommend a new or locally rebuilt (correctly) starter. That way you know what you have is correct. Yours has issues already mentioned. The starter bracket is a must so you do not break a starter bolt(s) or worse, break off a chunk of engine block as others have done. It's heavy and...

Tripping Sensors at Left hand turn lanes?

Garmin GDR45D (Dual cameras) Garmin GDR35's These were only available in the Asian market when I bought them. Havent looked in a while to see if they made it to the US. They work great and the low light capability is excellent. Ive been using Garmin products since 1993 and have been...

Tripping Sensors at Left hand turn lanes?

12v conversion - can any "points of failure" be removed?

He wasn't rude at all. He was correct. You clearly do not understand the cucv 12/24v system. It took me a bit to understand it. Now it's easy. Reading about and researching old threads/schematics on it helped a lot. Also the continuous run-on sentence post of yours was difficult to read...

    Fuel "system" sticking

Sitting a lot doesn't help. Yes, the Military lets things sit a very long time. A lot of problems can occur because of that. Drive it more or at least start it and let it run for an hour or so weekly. Most guys add something to the fuel to keep everything lubed. I use two-cycle motor oil...
