1: my winters are spent 3 hours to the south of home but unfortunately it lands me on top of a mountain range, so no, it's not warmer, especially with the wind chill effect happening almost 24 hours a day.. But the stoves are comfortable despite what's blowing outside
2: the fording pipe...
I spent uncountable hours with those , about 3 years worth fueling tracks and M48's, M60's etc... The windup rope-start pumps were a pain to start sometimes, but when they failed to start we could at least gravity/siphon the product , which was real slow, but at least fuel was flowing while you...
the cast-iron exhaust manifold elbow is large as you indicate, close to 4" .. I have two of them NOS but they (and the truck too) are nowhere close to where i winter, thus I cannot measure them.. As you can see in below pic, the exhaust pipe to the muffler is smaller than the cast-iron manifold...
1: not all trucks have the slave cable receptacle .. If you choose to have one , the 2-pin type with knurled cap is period-correct
2; the cab inlet vents are same regardless whether it's a gas or mf .. The gassers do NOT have a round hole in the right-hand engine bay door below the hood...
with that kind of performance your truck clearly has a Zenith carb, which superceded the original (and ornery) holley .. you've won the battle of performance/economy with that engine without having to suffer ;)
T&P = "Tank & Pump" .. sometimes lazily written as TNP for "tank-n-pump"
I have written some posts on here detailing field ops with these trucks with a heavy armor battalion throughout the 1980s
somewhere in my picture collection there is one with winch while in service .. would be a very rare situation .. i have never seen one w/w personally hands-on
if your model is going to have a front winch, the headlights should be upper ("high") quadrant .. This was done so the winch did not interfere with the headlight beams.. I am unsure whether this logic was applied to all winch trucks by the various builders because I had a 1954 Studebaker M108...
correct, you will have to change the louvers, the oil pan, and possibly the oil filter can etc... I will be home again on 27Dec and get you some pics and measurements
yep, i later found out they were getting paid behind the scenes , even the EMO got a piece of the pie via a subsidiary he had with someone else's name on it, there were plenty of shady "conflicts of interest" within the town that came to light in time
I concur with HDN about A61 being the booster.. Piece A22 is strange, yes there's a crossmember in that location on the real gassers, however I don't think mine has a perpendicular section on it as seen above.. You have me curious now, I will have to look at the truck again when I get home...
Once upon a time combat engineer Guard units had every piece of heavy construction equipment imaginable to do this service .. Not so anymore due to state/local politics and state budgets .. The units are now few and far between, that's if any HEAVY horizontal construction Nat'l Guard battalions...
Nice ! I totally forgot about Ugly's ! When my youngest son started his stage show tech biz about 15 years ago he had questions around the clock about connection polarity and ratings of lead cords, loading of portable gennies, circuits, and whatnot.. I told him to go online and buy an Ugly's...
that absolutely will give you that as well as better control of the loads and properly protect your branch-circuit conductors from overcurrent
as others have said, the actual voltage between phases is 208V but most 240V 1-phase equipment has no issue running on that other than an increase in...
it is no problem at all if you divide the single-phase loads among all three of the phases.. i previously forgot to mention specifically your actual voltage between-phases will be 208V which is not an issue with most 1-phase 240 motors and equipment, just that the amperage draw will increase...
1: I concur with G744,, and you already have everything you need right at the lugs ..
2: Just because it's considered 3-phase output doesn't mean you don't have single-phase at the lugs,, because you certainly do !
3: You will access single-phase 240V by attaching the 1ph load, breaker...
be careful handling those tires ! .. In a sloped motorpool in missouri in the late-70s we were lowering the spare one morning and it got away from us and started down the hill.. One of the guys began to bolt to get in front of it and I intentionally tripped him instead .. When that tire hit the...
If your hand brake doesn't work, then you have a few choices.. Lay down some stop blocks of some sort or chocks in the garage and shove it in with something else, .or fix it outside, or.. .....
or do what some of us others do when both types of brakes are out.. put it in low range and 1st...
yep, seen those as well as fuel tank trailers and van trailers and stakebeds , all with a front steer axle like that in your above link.. We called those "train trailers"..
Modern pups don't have a steer axle , they happily sit on the tandem or tri-axle set underneath the body as such ...
