    MEP 803 buyer guide/video

One of the things I've discovered and try to take advantage of when I can is the generators on trailers can sometimes go for less than bare machines since it takes more effort to haul away a couple of generators on trailers. You never know if the tires are good enough for a road trip home so its...

    MEP 803 buyer guide/video

    Got 3 MEP803s and about 5 MEP802s. I'm ready for a rush! :D

    No one escapes PM

I've given up on using the OEM hose on the return side of things. Units that I went through about 5 years ago have started leaking. I'm using the thicker gates fuel line now. Its not as easy to install but I hope it lasts a few years longer.

    MEP-8xx wet stack info

The lines on the supply side of the injection pump are 1/4". I have stopped using the 3.5mm return line and I now use conventional 1/8" fuel line. Its harder to put on but I think it will last longer than the OEM style return line.

    MEP-8xx wet stack info

It’s 1/4”. I cut the crimps off with a dremel. Seems to be the easiest way to get the old lines off.

    MEP-802A GP Win

The super cold weather will be here tomorrow night and for the next few days we will have few hours above freezing. That is uncommon this far south. Just in case the heatpump struggles or gets frozen up, I broke out one of the H140s to have on standby. These things also come in handy if you need...

    MEP-802A GP Win

Trying to keep an eye on things here. We are on that line in NC where it could be something OR it could be nothing. I'm staying prepared for either eventuality.

    MEP 802A trailer attachments

Totally understand that. i'm looking for a mast setup itself. I have plenty of reels and mounts as well. :D

    MEP 802A trailer attachments

Yep. Mast holders. I’ve been on the lookout for a set to use at the race track.

    NEW TO MEPs-802 GENS

Thats why I was asking about doing a VFD and running the pump below nameplate so a single 802 could handle it. I'm assuming in the off season the full flow/pressure of the well may not be needed. It would be much easier to have to deal ONLY with start/run events and not the whole parallel...

    NEW TO MEPs-802 GENS

Ug… 3 phase. I see your problem. It it were single phase, I’d recommend an inverter/battery setup for that. Any chance you can use a VFD on the pump to get it into the output range of a single 802? Do you need full pump output?

    NEW TO MEPs-802 GENS

Everyone gets fixated on speed control but that is actually the easy part. What makes it hard to parallel 802s is the voltage regulators. You'll need to change the VRs to ones that can do a master-slave setup. The stock VRs will NOT play nicely in a parallel situation. Woodward does make the...

    First MEP-803a

The load meter is calibrated for a power factor of 0.8. The generator is at 100% rated load when the load meter reads 80% (assuming a pure resistive load). These things will do over their rating. Most healthy 803s can handle up to about a 12.5 kw load. That doesn't mean you should run them at...

    MEP-80X Blow by

Break-in oil will not cause any issues so don't be concerned about using it. A fluids change is always done on any machine that is new to me. I'll give it a test run on the existing fluids (assuming the pass the sniff test) but soon after that, everything gets changed and the rest testing...

My buddies Ham Shack back up power.

The exhaust, I just TIG’d it back together. It looks horrible but TIG isn’t a process that likes dirty material. Had cracks to run out and holes to fill in. The problem as I see it is the fasteners are undersized for the load on them. I’m going to try a longer bolt with a spacer in hopes the...

My buddies Ham Shack back up power.

Very nice! Keep an eye on the exhaust bolts on the back of the engine. They have a tendency to break and if not caught quickly it breaks the exhaust where it connects to the muffler. I'm dealing with that issue now on a machine. Its not fun to fix. And I have one more in the que with the...

    MEP-80X Blow by

If the oil looks good then run it. Get it hot and get it loaded. Keep an eye on the oil level. The most important thing is to run it and make it work so everything runs in correctly. Don't worry about crankcase pressure for now.

    Mep-803a performance - power outage.

+1 on what Kurt reports. I find the sound from the 1030 to be less noticeable in the house. The 802 has a lower frequency sound that goes through walls better where the 1030 has a higher frequency sound (due to the 3 cylinders vs 2) and that shift is just enough to make it less noticeable when...

    Mep-803a performance - power outage.

55 gallon drums here. Biocide treated in the drums and a little ATF or BioDiesel added when used in the equipment. Use off road stuff so I don't rotate it through the on-road vehicles. Got tractors and an excavator in addition to generators that keep the fuel moving.
