A MEP802 will run my place no problem. Yea, I have to do some load management but assuming I'm not trying to dry a load of clothes, bake a casserole, and run the AC at the same time, it works fine. We have a 3T heatpump that I've put the heat strips on a separate breaker so if I'm on generator...
Take it slow. Aluminum work hardens really quick and tears. I bought one that had a bashed in top and was able to make it look pretty good with some patience.
You aren't going to find those panels anywhere. Those units are out of production. The link given above is to one of the SS members that is making the panels to order.
I don't see why not. I've gotten 803s loaded in the back of the truck at Fayetteville. Just hope they don't stick a fork through the side of it as I watched them do on one of my load outs.
This article may help understand where the NEC shifted the burden from thier code to the manufacturers.

You'll need to find the ratings for that specific load...
Sure, Type W is higher current rated but depending on the length the controlling issue will be voltage drop and not current capacity. You'll want to consider both in your installation.
I have an off-grid property with a camping cabin. There is a mini-split heatpump that the 831 runs beautifully. At my main home I have one of the inverter based window AC units that runs off solar power. There is no starting inrush with either of them.
If you choose the correct equipment you...
Virtually zero chance of success of it starting the compressor. It may run the fan but thats it. The 831 can't handle a lot of inrush. The inverter will trip out on overload. MEP802 at a minimum. One of those will start my 3T unit.
If I get one that I've not seen before I do a few things.
1. I disconnect the fuel line upstream of the pump and put it in a small container of fresh fuel. Disconnect the fuel return line and put it in a separate container.
2. check the oil and see if it looks OK. It it doesn't have any obvious...
My MEP831 starts my 3/4 hp well pump. I was concerned that the inrush would trip out the inverter on OL but it doens't. I expect with a conventional generator you'll have no problem running your well.
