    MEP-803s and UPS loads

You're on the right track but here is the kicker, a double delta is not better than zigzag in these generators because a double delta allows for a series parallel operation of the coils and what that does is any phase imbalance is converted to circulating current in the coil's. This leads to...

    MEP-803s and UPS loads

To oversimplify it its due to a 3 phase winding setup being connected in series. You are looking at the sum of all the vectors of the three phase coils in the series circuit. There is some cancellation of energy which shows up as a slightly less than perfect sine wave. To get into the weeds of...

    MEP-803s and UPS loads

Yep. Looks typical for a 12 wire alternator in single phase configuration. If if you put it in 3 phase mode and look again the peak should be rounded a little more. BUT there is nothing wrong with the overall shape of the waveform. Everything in the house should be quite happy with it.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

This is what I put my money on for the reason for the broken rocker.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Something that can happen is if your oil pressure goes really high it can cause the lifters to pump up. Since the clearances are tight in these engines it could cause a valve interference issue. After you worked on the oil pressure relief spring did you see the oil pressure spike when you...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Pulling the head will remove doubt. If it were in my shop I'd have the head off of it right now. But thats me.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Wow. That would be a first but lets hope not. You'll be replacing a cam if they did that. I can't imagine that wouldn't stand out since the rocker arm will be jacked up a lot higher than the rest.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

If I were to bet on when.. I bet it was an error upon assembly. The scenario would be that the valves were tightened down and the unit started without giving the minimum wait time for the lifters to bleed down. OR.. You have a bad lifter.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

That would certainly explain the problem. Glad you found it and with luck a couple of parts will make it right as rain.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Haha. Good one. It will last a while since it only sees the air flowing across it as the tank breathes which isn't much.

    MEP-802A voltage readings not right.

You should be able to get a reading within a few seconds. That is not long enough to hurt anything. Few meaning 5.

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

That is a bit overkill to have it go 24/7. For the big diesel generators we have a service come in and polish the tanks every 2 years. Unless there is a real outage the tanks are not turned over but about half a volume per year during monthly maintenance runs. I suspect if you ran the...

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

There is plenty of info on fuel storage and rotation already. Easy to find if you search around the web. Some residual hydraulic oil in a drum you fill with 55 gal of diesel isn't going to matter.

    MEP-802A voltage readings not right.

Let me channel my inner GuyFang. :) Disconnect all the wires then reconnect them using the wiring info in the TMs. Ok, maybe not ALL the wires in the generator but the ones around S8 for sure. Since you have no idea what has been done to the set you will need to over-verify things. There could...

    MEP 802a battery charging question

It is normal for the charge gauge to stay to the right of zero. The alternator is always producing enough energy to charge the batteries and run the DC side of the controls. You should keep an eye on the battery voltage and make sure you are not above the safe float voltage for them. Edit -...

    MEP 802a battery charging question

The regulator is on the back of the alternator and isn't adjustable. Sounds like you need a new one. How are you measuring it overcharging? What is the voltage on the batteries?

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Have you checked for any problems on the exhaust side like a restriction in the muffler?

803 Bogs Down and dies at 85% Load

Here are my thoughts. This obviously isn't the recommended procedure but this is how we used to check the injector pump setup on old diesel tractors. 1. Install a hydraulic pressure gauge on the outlet of one of the fuel injector pumps. Make sure you have a valve to bleed off the pressure...

    MEP-803s and UPS loads

I see the same thing. If the AC or well pump kicks on you can see the LED lights flicker and the computer UPS beeps. I don't worry about it.

    MEP-003 malfunction

In addition to anything you find in a TM to troubleshoot, I would check the +24v supply in the control cubicle to ground with a meter. If you are tripping the DC breaker you have a fault somewhere. Assuming you find one I would then disconnect the VR and check again. My gut is to look at...
