Do you have access to a battery load tester? Looks like a ramped up volt meter, but tests the voltage under a load. There are times a battery will show 12-13V but then drop to nothing under load. Something I did while bleeding the system was to remove all the glow plugs. No compression equals...
Wait light & Water in fuel light not on at startup, then flickering while driving.
Last Monday on my M1009, the "wait" & "water in fuel " lights stopped coming on at startup. As I drove down the road, both light would flicker as I hit the smallest of bumps. At the same time, Blaze started to...
:cookoo:? I don't think so! I used to do that with my '87 wrangler when I used it to travel to Montana from South Texas for the summer. Again, no excuse for not having already done this for the Blaze!
Not that it's really needed, but here is another PRIME example of the CUCV creedo. If it's electric CLEAN it, If it's rubber REPLACE it.
On the way to work today I drove past all the usual chemical plants, heard all the usual plant noises, smelled all the usual plant smells. As I reached the...
The receiver you linked to looks a lot like the one I ordered from JC Whitney (can't remember the brand name). Without detailed measurements I wouldn't feel right telling you whether that particular one would fit without problems. Mike68 described things a whole lot better that I did, so I've...
:ditto: on my install. Had to remove the cross bar between the shackles, then bend up the existing chain loops. I also drilled through the back bar of the new receiver hitch and placed bolts as support for the pindle hitch.
Welcome from Southeast Texas. Good luck on the search for your m1009! I sure like mine! I'm in the central Tx area a couple times each year, so if you need anything picked up from this way and transport that way, let me know.
Not to scare you away from a CUCV (I really like my M1009), but you are looking at a vehicle that is at least 26 years old. Look at all the places the vehicle can leak fluids, if it isn't leaking, it might be empty. I've replace just about all the big seals with the PITA ones being around the...
That's the glow plug system "re-glow". It will do that till the card stops it.
The squeal you're hearing is from the load on the alternator. You might tighten the belts again and that should help.
WOW that looks NICE!!! Don't know what the purist think about the shade of green, but I think it's a great match! I'm curious too, what the tinted liner set you back??
As you've no doubt read in other electrical trouble shooting threads, the first step is to charge and load test your batteries. Sometimes the batteries won't come back to life after a "dead cycle". I've heard the sounds you're hearing right now and the were because, even thou the batts showed...
I used the diagrams that mistaken1 attached to complete an adapter like you are describing "mil trailer connection to 7 pin RV". It works perfect with both my civy and converted m416 trailers. All 12V.
Unless previously modified, there should be two wires running from the fuse panel, along the left hand kick panel, under the driver side threshold, behind or under the drivers seat and into the bottom of the "female" end (right side of the driver) of the drivers seat belt. All of this run is...
Check the wires near the base of the drivers seat belt. If yours are like mine was, someone has cut them so the buzzer won't activate. My belt buzzer still picks it's own time to activate which is probably a grounding issue I've not addressed yet. I like my shoulder belt tight against me, so I...
I can't believe y'all were able to get this site back up SO quickly.!! Thanks for ALL the hard work and I'm glad you made it through your "perfect storm"!!
You might check a MAJOR Internet auction site for a "Intellitronix" voltmeter. They just might have what you're looking for, maybe in several different color LED. Again, no experience with these possible gauges.
Found these, not sure how heavy duty though.

Sorry, just realized the weren't digital!!
Not sure if this helps anything or just stirs up more mud. After reading through section II of the TM-20, chapter 1-10, on page 1-3, is it possible the OP has one of the m1028's that's incorporated the m1010's changing system? If so the A/C could be original and the brackets are FUBAR. Just a...
Here's a pic that I've been playing with. One of these days I'll give it a try! While I've never seen a good pic of a m1009 in MERDC, I have seen one of a HMMWV.
