So I poked around in the truck today, tested the Alternator and at first was excited because it was putting out 27.5 V when I first started it up, but after about 3 minutes it dropped to 23.8 Volts and then drops even lower if I turn on the headlights and it doesn't bounce back.
So now I have...
My last one took 13 days, that is after not submitting one in over two years and I moved to a new state, so my drivers license and address had changed.
I think they just crank out excuses for whenever they need one.
There is a reason our defense budget is the largest in the world. On the other hand, in the last 9 years of looking at gov acquisition cost tags on various surplus items I can't really say that I have found much of anything that looked severely over priced.
The Hx channel gets a lot of thing wrong. The other day a show I was watching said that the top speed of a hmmwv was over 90 mph:mrgreen:
That would be one scary ride.
That is a neat winch, what did the trucks former owner use this for? It is a mechanical mule, probably was built for moving logs in a sawmill.
Personally I would not part with it, but I need therapy.
On second look I noted the capstan winch attached to the end... this was probably on a ship...
Here is the rundown on my latest truck:
Winning bid: 1350.00
Fees: 150.00
Title: 65.00
Gauges 125.00
Tow off of base: 150.00
Shipping 925.00
Batteries 220.00
I had planned to drive it home, but glad I changed my mind. 5 of the tires are bad, tailight broke, part of the wire harness missing...
Ship it to me and I will do an unbiased field test on it for the benefit of the forum:razz:
You can search gel point of diesel, you will find that the gel point for #2 (not winter blend) is around 17 deg F. At -30 is would be like pudding no matter how good the engine is.
Unless that Deutz is...
I have sheet titled "LTI"
It has the vehicle ID number on it and a W/O number.
Dated 9 Dec 2009
Mechanic 31-SSgt Davis
Reason: DRMO
It is a little dirty, but I plan to keep it with the truck for whom ever inherits the truck later on. Would be nice to have if anybody ever does a resto on it...
