I think it might be time for new glow plugs and maybe the glow plug card. Before changing them I would check and make sure the plugs are cycling off with the wait light on the dash. Use a test light and make sure the power turns off to the plugs before replacing them. You can also use an OHM...
The government stockpile is depleting and as it does the prices will likely rise even higher. They have a lot of heavy duty parts on them that appeal to people, and are usually low mileage. There is a real nice looking M1009 listed on a website right now for a BIN of $8K. Bidding is up to...
Tiny Tach and more
I did some head scratching on where to mount my tiny tach and searched thru the CUCV section for pics on where others had mounted theirs. I liked mounting it next to the voltage meter, but for the life of me could not see it fitting in the space next to it. I started to...
Hitch installed
I got the draw-tite Class V receiver hitch installed. It took pretty much a full day and alot of patience, but in the end wasn't too bad. You will need to to some metal cutting in order to install. I did most of it with a 4-1/2" grinder with a metal cutting wheel, but did break...
Even if the lines are not leaking while the engine is running there is a good chance your sucking some air in which will mess with performance. Any rubber line that is leaking should be replaced. I would start there. Sounds like your electric pump is fine.
Looks good. I have been contemplating how I wanted to mount my winch and I'm really digging how you did yours.
How did the LMC exhaust work out? Did it match up to the factory exhaust or did it require modification?
I wasn't happy with the LMC rubber mat I put in mine. It wasn't wide enough to fit from side to side and left gaps. I like the idea of the 3/4" horse stall mat mentioned above. I saw those at Tractor Supply and thought about it for the cargo area, but the cab area is a good idea too.
I...
Mine was leaking from the throttle linkage and dripping off the bell housing. You may have the same problem I did and this is a common place for the IP to leak. I bought a rebuilt J code IP from Mid West Fuel Injection and it worked out great. You will need to send them your IP as a core...
Not a CUCV, but was used by the Military for sure. I saw one similar go up for bid on GL a couple years ago in Portsmouth, VA that was a Civi unit but owned by the military also. It had tinted glass, and AC. The civi units were probably used to usher around the Generals and Admirals perhaps.
Wow there sure are some wanna be's on this site. Ignore them OP. I think you'll get more money selling somewhere other than here. It's tough to give a good price opinion based on what I know about your M1009 but I would think $3k at a bare minimum. In my neck of the woods people bid alot more...
The lift with zero rates, shocks and all with shipping was about $775. The shipping alone was $110. More than I wanted to spend, but I wanted the Tuff Country springs which are a little pricier than some other brands.
The front springs had 1-addtional leaf over stock so I would say they would...
I didn't say what I said to bash them in fact I was careful about what I said because when I did speak to Denise she (not he) was very pleasant. I merely wanted people to know they need to be very clear on the size of springs they have so they get the right parts. I did explain that I had a...
They come out just like a spark plug unless they are swollen as Salt stated. Unplug the wire connected to them and just un screw them. That's all there is to it.
If once you un screw them and they will not pull out of the hole do not force it or bend from side to side. You will need the jandj...
I didn't take pics of the front spring install, but it's pretty straight forward as is the zero rate install. I bought longer center pins and rear u-bolts so both had to be trimed off once installed.
I sandblasted and powder coated the upper and lower U-bolt brackets while I had it apart. The...
I have not seen any threads with small lifts and smaller tires so I figured I would document and take pics along the way. Of course some of this was completed before I made that decision, but here goes.
Items competed thus far: Tuff Country 2" lift springs in front, Tuff Country Shocks, 1"...
After 30-years of holding that heavy motor I'm sure they are sagging a little. I did a 2-1/2" lift on my M1009 a couple years ago, and last week a 2" lift on my M1028 and they both ride and handle much better than with the stock springs. I'd replace them even if it is with a stock height spring...
