I saw Dave late last year at Gilbert, and then he emailed me some updates. Him and his brother have bounced between jobs and projects several times in the last several years. He assured me that the M819 project, the pipeline deuce project, and other things that they had previously worked on...
Most recent entry in my radio show travels, Harrisburg PA a couple weeks back. Had to hurry at this show, I left the house at 0430 to get there at 0700, and had to leave at 0830 to get back in time for work at 1100. So I drove a total of 5 hours to be at the show for 1-1/2 hours. I am...
Well, I'm out. Work has reared it's head again and I won't be able to get off work. Too many other employees taking time off then, the bossman won't let me take off too.
Someday....someday....
Had this photo scanned a few years back, of a military pump truck spraying foam during testing. I can't remember where this picture was originally taken, nor do I know the model number of the truck.
Bringing some odds and ends - I'll be in Yellow L/M2 for those who want to stop by. Also, I have some things for guys who asked me to transport things around the country for them, I'll be PMing them to remind them of where I'll be. I'll be there from early Thursday morning through late...
I went to a small hamfest in Culpeper VA a few weeks back, very few vendors but the good news was they required that the only things brought to sell at the show were radio or electronics-related. I'm getting tired of going to MV shows, hamfests, and gun shows and seeing people selling Beanie...
Welcome from up the road in Front Royal, VA. I used to live in Culpeper about 15 years back, and worked in Remington for a while. Very nice area, built up quite a bit since then...
You have a good starter truck there - most of the mid-70s Dodge trucks have dissolved into rust chunks by now, or are close to it. The 1970s was not a high water mark in the quality of American steel IMHO. But it seems your truck is lacking the typical cancer problems, so good on you!
Keep...
More mil gear! These are from over a month ago, I went to two hamfests in one weekend in early March, one in Frederick MD the other in Annandale VA. These are the military rigs I saw there, and the little I went home with.
pic 1: EE-8 field phone - they were early phones that used a...
Have to work today, but packing up Friday morning and will be there Friday around 1800 hours, set up near the Ed King and lancerobson's spot. Will be bringing the following with me:
new in box geared lug nut wrenches
piles of military radios and related parts, antennas, mounts, cabling...
Looks like it started life as a M762 utility trailer, they were often used as generator trailers or carried portable light towers. The diamond plate bed is not original, looks like it had a hard life. Can be cleaned up and made pretty again, but I wouldn't bid more than a couple hundred for it...
Many thanks for the heads up, Lance! I talked to Chris before and looks like we'll be sharing the spot!
First time back to MTA since 2010, I'm pretty excited! Now let's hope nothing last minute comes up that screws with the master plans!
Hope to make it this year - last year I got SO CLOSE to making it up there but couldn't last minute. Heard it's nice up in NH and ME, might have to make a week-long vacation out of it...
Looks like I'm out this time guys, work has reared it's ugly head and I can't take the weekend (or even one of the days) off. Have fun, I'll see you all next time around....
