We completely painted one of our 939s all black, undercarriage, and everything we could get to. It took 4 gallons of Rustoleum professional with an HVLP sprayer. I used the non air compressor type with the attached turbine. It covered pretty well.
I agree with the plan of all green and then...
Thanks everybody. Once I get the trucks finished up I'm going to spend some time with the gennies. I will definitely add some photos and test results. You guys are the best.
:ditto:
That's one aspect that happened to me (sort of). Batteries were acting all squirrelly, staying charged for a day then being dead the next after driving. Pulled the batteries and had 1 out of 4 that was shot. Harder to tell when they are all hooked up.
I concur, putting that much strain on an alternator isn't good. If you've got the time to put them on a charger it's much easier on things. Besides, a charger plugged in to a socket in the shop isn't burning diesel just to charge batteries...
That has also been part of the thought process.
They have been needed, but nobody put the thought into actually running and maintaining them. They have gone with the other options for power sources and left these to rot because of a lack of knowledge. I think it might be a hard lesson for...
I sure will. As soon as I get a chance to get out there where it's stored I'll take some good photos. I did notice that some of the insulation looked to be nested some.
Welcome from Southeastern NC.
I'm new to the site as well. I've been working on, driving, and generally liking MVs off and on for the last 27 years. I spent several years in CORPS as a 3521, and now as I work as a first responder my command staff realized what kind of secret skills I have and...
Hey all,
I've recently been put in charge of our growing MV fleet with the Sheriff's Office I work for. We currently have 2 M923 5 tons, an RG31 MRAP, and a trailer mounted with 2 MEP-003a generators.
The vehicles were just purchased/ acquired this year and things are going well with them...
I got the mock up back from the graphics shop, a few changes to be made, but small ones.
I also got the blue light bar installed on the cab, along with 4 out of 10 blue "poppers" in the grill and down the sides.
Still need to add the front LED flood, and the two LED rear flood lights.
I'm...
I absolutely agree. We put them on the ship, and then off loaded when they arrived. 30 of them came off of deadline just 2 days prior to the deployment..lol
Hey guys, I've been working on an RG31 A2 (M1236). Running good and looking good, except the seal has failed on the windshield panes. I found a youtube video on how to separate the lexan covering from the first layer of laminate and remove it. He stated that was the common area for those to...
The only real experience I have with combining both trucks is when I was still in the CORPS and some of us deployed to Nicaragua after Hurricane Mitch (1998). We were attached to an Army Engineer Battalion. They came equipped with LMTVs...we were sporting M923s, and even some 800 series...
Finally got some pics in. Not the greatest, but there they are. You can see the exhaust and the intake are way too low. We should be mocking up some pipe to fix it this week.
The only problem is I have 2 m923s to work on (small repairs, paint, graphics, and blue lights wired up). And either...
Ok, so I had a bad wire running from battery to battery. I replaced the two weak batteries and BAMM...she started right up. But NOW the gauges are gone wonky. Voltage, fuel, oil pressure...all electrically operated gauges started jumping around and then flat lined. Alternator still putting out...
Yep, I believe you are correct. I checked the batteries..not even under any load yet. Just voltage....#1 =13.4V, #2 =11.2V, #3 =6.5V, #4 =4.2 volts....I think I've got one, and possibly two batteries that are hashed. I might just eliminate the two bad ones and run a two battery set up for...
lol, done that, on an MK48...years ago. Across the top of the batteries though. I was able to kick it loose before the batteries exploded. Mighty scary though.
