Thought I should respond because some might get the negative impression that GV units are not worth the money spent, which I believe would be wrong.
For one thing they ARE NOT difficult to install in stock vehicles, if you have some wrenching experience and follow instructions, it is doable in...
Good info, have seen this study somewhere before and it was debated as to the different results in other engine types for one thing, and specifically air cleaner assemblies allowing dirt to pass for lack of a good seal top & bottom.
Myself, I noticed my AC Delco, after first filter change, did...
Got the K&N too here 'cause I live in the dusty high desert and stock filters would load up way too soon, even with poly-wrap foam. Why pay 12-15 buck$ for stock filters when you can go K&N for a one time $45, seems more economical. No foam on the K&N recommended. Did notice a bit more pep at...
BRAVO~! After my install the speedo was off too even tho I gave GV all needed info, rear axle ratio, tire size, whatever, so they sent me another nylon gear--- don't recall the tooth count, but as fate would have it at the same time my speedo-in-dash went kaput completely. So can't really help...
Had similar issue with my M1008 where it would brake and steer fine, then if I did a slow lock-to-lock turn, like a double u-turn in a parking lot, the brake pedal would go to the floor and after a couple of pumps would bring it back solid again. This happened periodically and could NOT always...
Why do you say that? Can understand why armored vehicles won't be available--- ever! But around my area, with lot's of military training bases, we see HMMVV's convoying all over the place looking for all the world like basic HMMVV. Maybe that titanium armour is not readily visible?
Anyway, hope...
Hi all, just a quick post here of something interesting I saw today:
http://www.cnbc.com/id/101048255?__source=yahoo|finance|headline|headline|story&par=yahoo&doc=101048255|The%20new%20%27Humvee%27:%20Firms%20v
Could this possibly mean that in the future we'll see govt surplus Humvees out for...
Maybe I'm kinda thick-headed, but let me see if I can understand what you have... my 208 T-case uses the same spline count at final output shaft as TH400 trans, forget the number of splines, along with a GV coupler placed at the end of adapter which mates with GV unit. Then, GV unit has provided...
Not sure what you're saying. Are you changing the 205 adapter from a slip-yoke to a fixed yoke? And yes, no matter which way it goes you must have drive shaft re-sized. BTW I saved my original DS in case I want to pull the GV unit and return my truck to stock.
Been a while since I looked in... as for the PTO I hadn't even considered it. Maybe call Gear Vendors and ask, they're really helpful people. And I can't really see your pictures too well. Maybe try attaching instead of embedding? That way they come out larger when you click on them.
BINGO~! What a secret, huh? Thanks a million Steve and to answer you question as to why I'm doing this see the before and after pics: rusty, gritty, dirt filled hub knob aasembly, to a clean machine! In third pic you'll see that I indexed the moving pieces BEFORE taking them apart to ease...
Awesome! A permanent 20 gallon gas can! Simple and functional. Gives me inspiration, as I was thinking in terms of adding 2nd tank and plumbing it into the fuel system, a much more complicated and potentially problematic endeavor.
outer hublock knob assembly
My vehicle is M1008 and I have the lockout body on the bench and apart as far as it goes. What I'm referring to I call the cap/dial/cover mechanism which is the first thing removed and the last thing re-installed when servicing the front axle. Has anyone...
I'm in the process of doing this job right now and want to say thanks to OP for the great write up. Reason I'm reviving this thread is cause I've the need to clean/lube inside the cap/dial/cover mechanism and haven't seen anything on how that is done, if in fact it can be. Lot's of crud in there...
OK, I REALLY I intended this to be a poll with the radio button things but somehow I flubbed it and this posted... anyway, unless you're actually dealing with folks involved with military vehicles most places I go for parts I describe it as Chevy K30, or My Precious.
This idea came to me when in conversation about our trucks someone, including myself, will use different ways to say the same phrase; CUCV and we either say what? Or huh? Or OH~!
Which do you use;
1. see-you-see-vee
2. kook-vee
3. M1008, M1009, M1010, etc.,
4. My Precious
Hey, welcome to the forum. Looks like you build offroad rigs. Do you have a full-time shop or are your projects hobby/sideline kinda' work? Anyway, hoping to attend the event and meet some of you guys... time will tell.
