Great job! I am getting ready to paint mine 3 color woodland camo with Rapco rattle cans. Never thought of pulling off parts and hanging them up and painting them. Thanks for all the pics, that helps. I think your truck will look even cooler if ya add some black paint areas or patterns to it.
blocked by heater and other stuff in the way.....
I have the same problem with a deuce I got from GL, it runs to full throttle on start up, then when you stop it by pulling out the fuel shutoff lever, it wont start any more. I read this thread and reviewed the pics before I tried this today...
F-15 kinda low
Not super low but still fun. Listen to those engines rip up the sky.
title of youtube video is F-15 flyby over the crowd.
Sorry if the link above is not working for the video.
I saw a F-15E strike eagle (real dark green paint job that looks almost black) do a really...
Do you have a MV club in your area? Join up. That really helps. I have guys I can call within 10 miles of me that have; towbars, deuces, 5 ton wrecker and mechanical experience for this stuff.
not daily drivers
It's a guv-mint thang, those drip pans and pallets. If you are lucky, in warm weather, the trucks don't leak as much, also if you run them regularily, they seem to not leak and drip as much. Seems like all the gaskets and seals harden up or are dry and not sealing in the...
the circle of life
hmm. wowzer, my head is spinning thinking about this. I am unsure. The civy MTR's are popular out here on jeeps. Some of the folks in my 4x4 club wearing those type of shoes.....
I spent my first 45 years of life in St. Louis MO where they were all built. Relatives and neighbors worked there at the plant. Thanks for all the info. I really like the F-15 though (same manufacturer, same factory), really nice lines when you see it flying wheels up and talk about power. I...
South Bend Indiana
Buy David Doyle's book; Standard Catalog of U.S. Military Vehicles.
Why?, I am not sure, but I did. Anyway.... just reading on this site and reading the MV magazines and David's books you will probably realize that that factory in South Bend was passed along to different...
deuce decals
Tuesday nite I ordeded 8 decals from Gary at Left Coast Design on ebay, by Saturday they were here and he threw in an extra decal that I can use in the cab. Very nice guy to deal with, great stuff.
tube
Somebody asked, where can you get tubes. Two weeks ago I bought one for $26 at a commercial tire goodyear store in the industrial section of town, all big trucks in the bays. My trucker buddy sent me there and said to ask for a "900-20". That worked, they knew what I was talking about...
uh
After reading on this site for about 5 years, I am still confused on this topic of acceptable deuce transmission lubes. I would like to run the GL5/MT1 stuff from China Mart with a quart or two of Lucas additive stuff (I dont know why, I just do). I have a new to me 1987 M35A2C that I...
looks like 4 color desert camo
Wow, that is a nice paint job/scheme. I would like to have a deuce done up like that someday. Seems like you see those come out of national guard units from AZ and NV region.
Pensacola
Been there, great museum. It appears they must have one of every plane and helicopter the US Navy ever used in it's history on display in that place. Was really impressed how clean and shining everything was, they must have tons of volunteers to keep all those aircraft clean, shining...
maybe flip a coin?
It's truly a personal decision. I had a non winch deuce for 2.5 years and it was great. I sold it and got a winch deuce just because I think they look a little cooler but I may never need that winch.
Mine are just for displays and parades and fun to tinker on.
I bet if you...
no big deal
Most of your tinkering, maintenance, and holding the thing together will be accomplished with regular wrenches and sockets.... 3/8 to 3/4 inch. You will be surprised.
secondary fuel filter gasket
NAPA Primary fuel filter= 3511, Secondaries=3512 and buy two gaskets=5070 for the secondaries. Two gaskets come in the box with each secondary filter but neither really fits right.
*** Results using gaskets in secondary filter boxes.... really struggled...
